Margaret Joan Janatsch March 21, 1929-October 1, 2016 Margaret (Margie) Janatsch entered into eternal rest on Oct. 1 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Wallkill, N.Y. with her loving family at her side. She was 87.

The table was set for two candidates at the Oct. 17 debate hosted by the Times Herald-Record. But only one of them was there. Democrat Chris Eachus sat by himself at a table in the front of the room. Bill Larkin, his opponent in the race for the state Senate, was missing.

Scouts’ Silver project addresses teen pregnancy

According to the Center for Disease Control, three out of 10 American girls will get pregnant at least once before they are 20. Each year about 750,000 teens get pregnant. Approximately 330,000 of those pregnancies end in abortion, 170,000 in miscarriage and 250,000 are carried to term.

Town Board OKs preliminary budget

At an Oct. 13 workshop, the Town Board accepted a preliminary budget that is under the tax levy cap. The board will hold a public hearing on the budget at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov.

On Oct. 8, Girl Scouts helped collect food for needy children. It was the second food drive Backpacks for Food has held since the start of the school year.

Boyle, witch hats and news bites

On Oct. 22 members of COVAC will be helping a helper. Jack Boyle, a life member of the ambulance corps, has assisted others as a volunteer and as an EMS captain with the New York City Fire Department. After the World Trade Center attacks, he worked for 50 days at Ground Zero.
