William “Bill” J. Clark

May 20, 1943—June 21, 2024

Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY

William “Bill” J. Clark, a lifelong resident of Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York, passed away on June 21, 2024. Born on May 20, 1943, Bill lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service to his family, community, and country.

Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army and dedicated 30 years to the Cornwall-on-Hudson Water Department, where his strong work ethic and commitment were widely recognized. He took on countless side jobs to support his family, always putting their needs first. Beyond his professional life, Bill was an avid fisherman and hunter, finding joy and peace in the great outdoors. He was also a passionate coin collector, delighted by the history and stories behind each piece. Bill had a special place in his heart for the numerous family dogs he had over the years and the random wildlife that visited his yard.

Bill’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bonnie Milich Clark; his daughters, Teresa Clark Lease and her husband Jack of Newburgh NY, and PJ Clark of Cornwall-on-Hudson. As a grandfather, he cherished his four grandchildren: Mikayla, Gabriel, Jake, and Anthony, who will carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.

He is also survived by his loving sisters Loretta Catalano, Betty Castaline, Jeannie Wright, and Gladys Englehart, along with many dear family members in Florida. He was predeceased by his best friend and brother, Jack Clark and sister Joan Donegan.  Bill’s memory will be treasured by his extended family and the many friends in Cornwall-on-Hudson who knew him for his kindness and warm smile.

Bill will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a testament to hard work, love, and community spirit. His legacy will continue to inspire and bring warmth to all who knew him.

Merrill Herbert Meyers

September 3, 1926—June 18, 2024

Fishkill, NY formerly Cornwall, NY

Merrill Herbert Meyers, a former longtime Cornwall resident, entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2024 at the Fishkill Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Fishkill, NY. He was 97 years old.

The son of the late John Herbert Meyers and Loretta (Schmidt) Meyers, Merrill was born on September 3, 1926 in St. Louis, MO.  

Merrill was a retired Machinist for Ruggerio Bros. in the Bronx, NY.  He honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Merrill  was a history buff who enjoyed reading about the Civil War and visiting history museums.  He enjoyed gardening, singing and the St. Louis Cardinals. He also loved the arts and weightlifting. Dad was a kind man who worked very hard for his family whom he loved very much.

In addition to his parents, Merrill was preceded in death by his loving wife: Marilyn M. (Springer) Meyers in 2022.  He is survived by his daughters: Barbara A. (Meyers) Stell and Janet L. (Meyers) Callahan; his sons: Merrill K. Meyers and Mark G. Meyers; 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren: and by his sister: Beverly Cantrell.

Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 24th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Interment with Military Honors followed the Mass at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall, NY.

Linda Ann Way

May 19, 1937—June 10, 2024

Virginia Beach, VA

Linda Ann Way, a former longtime Cornwall/Mountainville NY resident entered eternal rest on June 10, 2024 at Virginia Beach General Hospital. She was 87 years old.

She was an active member of the Mountainville United Methodist church where she taught Sunday school for over 40 years. After moving to Virginia Beach in 1991 she continued volunteering at the Foundry United Methodist church. At Foundry she taught Sunday School, helped with the food pantry, did outreach for Homebound parishioners and was affectionately known as the “Kitchen Nazi”.

Linda is survived by two daughters and two sons; Peter Davidson and his wife Laura (Leeds) Davidson of Colorado, Sheila (Way) Curley and her husband Thomas of Florida, Lisa-Marie (Way) Birdsall of New York and David-Kurt Way of Virginia; Seven grandchildren, Nicole (Davidson) Robinson, Timothy Davidson, Desiree (Birdsall) Roberts, Devynn Nelson, Jason Curley, Justin Curley and John Curley; and seven great grandchildren, Olivia Robinson, Jacob Curley, Abigail Curley, Riley Pizzella, Wyatt Roberts, Finnick Roberts and Dante Fiore.

She was preceded in death by her son R. Paul Davidson, her mother Estelle S. Brown, and her grandson Christopher Davidson.

A Celebration of Life service was held on June 15 at the Foundry United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach, VA. Her final resting place will be with her beloved mother and beloved son at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mountainville NY. A Graveside memorial will be held on July 20 at 11:30 AM followed by a luncheon at Hope United Methodist church in Cornwall, NY.
