Kip Touraine

May 16, 2024

Mountainville, NY

Kip Touraine loved Mountainville. He passed away of natural causes on Thursday, May 16, 2024 with his loving family beside him.

Born Karl Peter Muller-Touraine in Manhattan, he grew up in Bedford NY, and at the age of 17 moved to Nantucket. He spent his early years playing softball in Boston until he settled into his grandfather’s stone house in Mountainville which became his home for the rest of his days.

Kip was a carpenter by trade and a man of the community. He volunteered his time and expertise for the local Fire Department, Pleasant Hill Cemetery, and served as the Captain of the Woody Guthrie and Harbor Master for the Beacon Sloop Club. His love of sailing began at a young age and continued throughout his life. He shared his love of the Hudson River with those he taught to sail.

Kip was a good man. He loved his wife, his daughter and- most especially, his beloved granddaughter, Emmersyn! Kip enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: the peace and quiet in nature, a sunrise and a delicious meal, a good conversation with friends, and music — particularly Van Morrison! He was an amazing gardener, a diehard Yankees and Giant fan and huge fan of crossword puzzles and games.

He will be remembered for his great hair and his sense of humor!

Kip is survived by his wife Harriet, daughter Katelyn Enjaian, granddaughter Emmersyn, sister Liza (Rob) Duval, nieces Shayna and Angela, and his life long friend Seth Harvey.

He was preceded in death by his father Karl Muller Touraine and Jackie Tompkins Touraine. He will be greatly missed.
