Helen B. Caudy of Vails Gate (New Windsor) was called home to the arms of her savior on December 11, 2023. She was born Helen Bigg(Nagy) on February 4,1921 in Roseton, N.Y. She was the daughter of Joseph and Esther Bigg(Nagy).
The family wishes to extend its thanks to the staff of Middletown Park Rehabilitation & Health Care Center for the care she received in her last year. Helen appreciated the compassion extended to her by each one there.
Helen loved to sing in the choirs to which she belonged. She raised her voice in praise at several churches during her lifetime including Cornwall Presbyterian, Vails Gate UMC, Grahamsville UMC and First United Methodist Church in Newburgh.
She graduated from Cornwall High School in 1939 and from there, went on to Spencerian Business School in Poughkeepsie. Then Helen was called upon to run the Rationing Board in Newburgh during WWII. Later she worked for Clouser Sales, United States Post Office and finally Quality Auto body all in Vails Gate.
Helen was predeceased by her husband of 72 years Robert W. Caudy as well as 8 brothers and sisters including: Joseph, John, Mickey, Julia, Esther, Marjorie, Barbara(Bert), Betty and nephew, Dan.
She is survived by daughter Cheryl Gould and husband William of New Windsor, son Roger Caudy and wife Carol of Lexington, S.C., six grandchildren including, Keely, Brendan, Ryan, Michael, Daniel and Lara and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 20, 2024 at 11AM at Cornwall Presbyterian Church, 222 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y. with internment at the families’ convenience.
