Rose (Zanderigo) DeMure

April 29, 1926—December 3, 2023

Newbury, CT

Rose (Zanderigo) DeMure, 97, of Torrington, CT passed away peacefully, surrounded by beloved family on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Keystone Place at Newbury Brook. 

Wife of the late Emil DeMure, Rose was born April 29, 1926 in Torrington. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Costalunga) Zanderigo. Together with Emil, they owned and operated DeMure’s Home Bakery in Walden, NY until her retirement. 

Rose was a lifelong communicant of St. Peter’s Church, a member of the St. Peter’s Holy Rosary Society, the St. Anne Society, the Franciscan Society, and the Sullivan Senior Center. 

Rose is survived by her three children, eight grandchildren; Audrey Waugaman of Frisco, TX, her daughters Ami Harman (Scott) and Meagan Brooks. Jeffrey DeMure of Granite Bay, CA, his wife Melanie and their children; Emily, JT, Jeremy & Brayden. Jeanne Burke of Stormville, NY, her husband Daniel and their children; Sarah Bledsoe (Jordan) and Sean Burke. Rose was also blessed with five great-grandchildren; Preston & Griffin Brooks, Addison Harman, KJ & Chase Bledsoe, along with many nieces and nephews that she adored. 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her three siblings; Primo Zanderigo, Louis Zanderigo & Enis Cetra. 

Rose’s family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff & administration at Keystone Place and Newbury Brook for their remarkable care and unwavering support and to AccentCare CT for their exceptional service. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, with the cortege leaving at 10:00 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT, to St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning, December 16th from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.

Peter J. Garrison

September 5, 1956—December 9, 2023

New Windsor, NY

Peter (Pete) Garrison peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 9th at home in New Windsor. 

Pete was born in New York City on Sept 5, 1956 to Eugene (Steven) Garrison and Theresa Hutton. He was the middle child of eleven siblings.

Pete was a talented residential carpenter who took the utmost pride in his work. His early years were spent framing and sheathing houses, which earned him the nickname of “Pete the Sheet.” Driving around Rockland and Bergen Counties would often turn into a tour with him saying “I worked on that house, and that one too!” 20 years ago, he formed GC Trimmers and concentrated on interior trim, designing, and building built-in bookcases and fireplace mantles. He also created intricate decks and installed kitchens and baths. He was well respected by others in the industry. 

Pete met the love of his life and soulmate Marge, and they were married for thirty-nine wonderful years. They enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, NV and Chapel Hill, NC to see his beloved North Carolina Tarheels play basketball. They would also travel to see the Los Angeles Dodgers play in various stadiums all over the country. Forever an avid music lover, Pete loved going to concerts or playing guitar to his favorite artists, Jackson Brown, Grateful Dead and the Eagles.

Pete is survived by his wife: Marge; and their children: Robert Edwards (Jennifer) of NYC, Erica Hervey (Steve DeMartino) of Monroe, Sara Stach (Max) of Monroe, Kelly Garrison of Philadelphia, PA and Keith Garrison of Brooklyn NY.  He loved and was so proud of his grandchildren: Nathan Yetter, Cassidy Rule, James Hervey, Matthew Hervey, and Jacob Stach. 

He will be greatly missed by his siblings: Linda Fagan (Albert) of Stony Point, Nancy of Middletown, Tina Marie of Middletown, Steven of Phoenix, AZ, Christopher of San Jose, CA, Laura Garrison-Smith of Middletown, Sally Hughes (Daniel) of Middletown, Elizabeth Russo of Middletown, Daniel Garrison (Lisa Natusti) of Washingtonville; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law: Jane Marie Clark.

Predeceased by his father: Eugene Stephen Garrison; mother: Theresa Walsh; stepfather: Michael Walsh; brother: Richard Garrison; and son: Gary Uttrich.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 14th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 15th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Cremation will follow the Mass at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.

Jeanne T. Maroney

June 7, 1929—December 5, 2023

Purdys, NY

Jeanne T. Maroney, formerly of Cornwall-on-Hudson, entered into rest on 5 December 2023 at Salem Hills Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Purdys, NY. She was 94.

The daughter of Louis and Helen (Olsesky) Wenchel, she was born on June 7, 1929 at home in Patchogue, New York.

Jeanne graduated from Highland Falls High School in 1946 and the Wood School in New York City in 1947. She was employed at the United States Military Academy at West Point as a secretary, lastly, in the Department of Law. She met the love of her life there, Andrew J. Maroney, and married at St. Thomas of Canterbury in June 1949. They were married for 64 years.

Jeanne devoted herself to volunteer projects, most notably as a librarian at St. Thomas of Canterbury school in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She and her late husband also were founding members of the Cornwall Historical Society. She served as an Orange County Election Inspector for 50 years.

In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew J. Maroney, Jr. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, and friend and will be deeply missed. Survivors include her son Andrew J. Maroney III and wife Mary Jo; daughter Barbara J. French and husband Richard; grandchildren Andrew J. Maroney IV and wife Katherine, Matthew P. Maroney, Donald A. French, and Meghan L. French; great-grandsons Benjamin and Joshua Maroney, sisters Doris Nostrand and Carol Morin.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 16th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the Visitation at 12:00 p.m. at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall, NY.

The family would like to thank Right at Home and Salem Hills Rehabilitation & Nursing Center for the outstanding care they provided to Jeanne during her final years.
