Patricia Swin Donahue

Patricia Swin Donahue, of The Woodlands at Furman University, Greenville, SC and formerly of Windon Farm, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY entered into rest on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

Pat is survived by her sister Mary, her nieces and their families: Kristine Norwood, Stephanie Bartsch, Michelle Robinson, her sister in Law Theresa and brother Dr. Michael J. Donahue, as well as many cousins and dear friends.

Born to Michael J. Donahue and Loraine Swin Donahue, Pat enjoyed life and loved to share her memories of her family and friends, both in her Cornwall community and with her Woodlands community. Pat was a woman of strong faith, had a love of flowers and fauna, especially her Great Danes, her horses, the sheep, cats, birds and deer.

Joan C. Harmon

May 8, 1930—October 14, 2023

Somers, NY formerly Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY

Joan C. Harmon, a former Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY resident, entered into eternal rest on October 14, 2023 at Paramount at Somers Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Somers, NY. She was 93 years old.

The daughter of the late William S. Harmon and Clara (Youmans) Harmon, Joan was born on May 8, 1930 in Salisbury Mills, NY.  

Joan was a retired Transcriptionist for St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, NY for many years.

A family statement reads: “She cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They brought her an enormous sense of pride, joy and love. Her love was not just limited to her children, but also extended to their spouses, family and friends. That was what she believed in, and dedicated her life to. Our mom was an avid reader. She also enjoyed gardening, feeding birds, rooting for her Yankees and playing along with Jeopardy. Her famous chocolate chip cookies will never be duplicated or forgotten!”

Joan was predeceased by her sisters: Frieda and Bernice; her favorite aunt: Dot; her nephew: Buddy; and grandchildren: Joshua and Gina Marie.  She is survived by her daughters: Robin-Lee Smith (Scott), Tammy Walker (Steve Blomquist), Nikki Khalil (Waleed); her sons: Jeffrey Roma (Kathleen) and Steven Roma; 8 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY.  Interment followed the Mass at Washingtonville Cemetery in Washingtonville, NY.

Gertrude Hilda Marvin

September 13, 1928—September 12, 2023

Davenport, FL formerly Cornwall, NY

Gertrude Hilda Marvin, a former Cornwall, NY resident, died peacefully with family by her side on September 12, 2023 at her residence.  She was one day shy of 95 years old.

The daughter of the late Domenico Frattarola and Brigida (Pompili) Frattarola, Gertrude was born on September 13, 1928, in Farindola, Italy and entered the United States through Ellis Island in 1934.  She grew up in Highland Falls, NY and later moved to Cornwall where she lived for over 60 years.  Gertrude married the love of her life, Ernest A. Marvin Jr. on June 16, 1954. He predeceased her in 2017.  After his death, Gertrude moved to Norwich, CT and spent the last 3 years of her life in Davenport, FL.  

Gertrude spent several years as a military wife, living all over the world.  She worked as a bookkeeper at the Cornwall Oil Company and Garage and on the sales staff at Edgar’s Clothing Store on Main Street in Cornwall for many years.

Gert enjoyed spending time visiting her family, grandkids, and great grandkids.  She always looked forward to lunch out with her friends.  She loved doing word search puzzles and reading the newspaper front to back.  Gertrude loved gardening and was a great designer of gardens and rock walls.  She always loved shopping for that new purse to add to her collection of many.  

Gertrude is survived by her two sons: Ernest A. Marvin, III and his wife Doreen of Davenport, FL and Michael D. Marvin and his wife Carole of Highland Falls, NY; her grandchildren:  Dominic Marvin and his wife Kristen of New Windsor, NY, Jenna Denning and her husband Cathal of Crompond, NY, Dr. Kastley Marvin and her husband Dr. Fernando Rios of Sneads Ferry, NC, and Stefan Marvin and his wife Anastasia of Norwich, CT; her great-grandchildren: Callie, Lily and Mikey Denning and Mackenzie Marvin; her sister and brother-in-law: Anita and John Orlando of Cornwall, NY and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, Gertrude was predeceased by her sister: Filomena Brower, and her brother: Romano Frattarola.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.  A Chapel Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. following the Visitation.  Inurnment will follow at West Point Cemetery, West Point, NY.

Wesley R. Yeoman

February 10, 1938—October 11, 2023

Cornwall, NY

Wesley R. Yeoman, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest on October 11, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old.

The son of the late William Yeoman and Charlotte (Tremper) Yeoman, Wesley was born on February 10, 1938 in Cornwall, NY.  

Wesley was a retired Maintenance/Repair Supervisor for USMA, West Point, NY for many years.

Wesley was a man of many talents from woodworking to gardening and had a great love of nature.  He was a dedicated family man who will be greatly missed.

Wesley was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years: Janet M. (Swenson) Yeoman in 2014.  He is survived by his daughter: Cynthia O. (Yeoman) Overton of Cornwall, NY; his sons: William R. Yeoman and his wife Marta of Cornwall, NY and Wayne E. Yeoman and his fiancée Terri of Cornwall, NY; 10 grandchildren: Josh, Ashley, Brandyn, Anna, Nick, Tiara, Corey, David, Nick and Ava; and 4 great grandchildren: Brendan, Evelyn, Amari and Eleanor.  In addition to his wife, Wesley was predeceased by his daughter-in-law: Miriam Yeoman.

Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY.  A Graveside Service took place at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 17th at Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, NY.
