Terribile wants kids to love sports

Tom Terribile, a former Cornwall athlete, has a new mission — he’s the founder of Hudson Valley Legacy Sports. The goal? He wants to create opportunities for local kids to participate in a flag football camp.

He did that throughout the month of July, hosting four week-long camps for fourth through eighth graders on the fields at the Black Rock Fish & Game Club.

He’s thrilled to report they went well and is incredibly grateful to Black Rock for allowing him to use their fields.

“Growing up in Cornwall some of my best memories were playing sports with my friends during summer camp,” Terribile said. “Making new friends, learning new skills, and having fun was what summer was all about.”

Most of his life he’s been playing, coaching, and working with Cornwall’s youth football program.

“I saw so many kids enjoying themselves, but then COVID happened. With it,  there were many programs shut down and I saw that kids needed an outlet,” he added.

He says this gave him the idea to start a flag football summer camp program and give kids the same experience he had growing up in Cornwall. He hopes to do it again next summer.

“Hudson Valley Legacy Sports is a sports program for kids to have fun through sport, learn new skills and develop them into everyday life. Black Rock Fish & Game Club has been generous enough to let us use their fields and give these kids that opportunity,” Terribile said this week. “Our goal’s to keep growing and giving more kids those opportunities to develop, have fun and give the best experience possible.”
