Christopher M. LaBoy

Schoharie, NY

Christopher M. LaBoy, 51, of Morning Sun Drive in Schoharie passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at his home.

Chris was born May 26, 1971 in Bronx, NY a son to Mario LaBoy and Eladia (Caraballo) LaBoy. He was a kind, caring soul who loved animals. Chris was a member of different animal rescue groups and had many rescue pets through the years. He enjoyed blogging about cars and trucks and being an outlander. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hiking and camping with his beloved animal companions.

Survivors include his best friend and mother, Eladia LaBoy of Schoharie, sister and brother-in-law, Desiree and Joseph Dunn of Hardwick, NJ, niece, Nahleah Dunn and several aunts, uncles, cousins, numerous friends and co-workers.

A service will be held at a later date at the discretion of the family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Christopher’s memory to the Schoharie Valley Animal Shelter, PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.

Wilma A. Popowick

June 30, 1932—July 16, 2022

New Windsor, NY

Wilma A. Popowick, of New Windsor, a homemaker died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the age of 90 at her home with her loving family by her side.

The daughter of the late William and Regina (Bley) Grube, she was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on June 30, 1932.

Wilma is predeceased by her loving husband, George PopowickSr. on 11 December 1999 and her son in law Raymond McGowan Sr. on 28 June 2015. Wilma is also predeceased by her siblings, Regina Brawner, Dorothy Alexander, John Grube and Fred Martens.

Survivors include her daughter Carol Popowick Robertin, of New Windsor, NY, her son, George Jr. and his wife Teresa of Newburgh, NY and her son Michael and his wife Victoria of Siesta Key, Florida. Grandchildren include Raymond, Jessica, William and Jack all of whom she loved and adored.

Wilma enjoyed crossword puzzles, writing to her hundreds of pen pals all throughout the United States and gardening in her yard with her daughter.

She was the best friend, mom and grandmother ever. 

Memorial contributions in Wilma’s name may be made to her long-time supported charity, Wounded Warriors.

Visitation will be held from 5-7p.m. on Thursday, July 21 at Brooks funeral home, 481 Gidney Ave., Newburgh. A Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, with burial following in Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor.
