Mary Ann B. Smelster

October 24, 1936—August 22, 2021

New Windsor, NY

Mary Ann B. Smelster, of New Windsor, NY entered into eternal rest on August 22, 2021 at her residence.  She was 84 years old.

The daughter of the late James Joseph Conway and Violet Jennie (Litvinskie) Conway, Mary Ann was born on October 24, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA.  

After retiring as a Nurse, Mary Ann went on to pursue a Master’s Degree and became an Elementary School Teacher.  She greatly enjoyed both of her careers.

Mary Ann is survived by devoted sister: Olga Joan Conway of Montgomery, NY and by her “adopted” family: Nicholas and Christina Golemis and their sons: Nicholas, Timothy and Vincent all of Cornwall, NY.  Mary Ann was devoted to her little four-legged friend, her poodle Daisy.  In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was predeceased by her husband: Joseph Smelster.

Based on new CDC guidelines adopted by NYS, fully vaccinated individuals do not need to wear masks or be socially distanced, but unvaccinated individuals must continue to wear masks and be socially distanced in the funeral home. 

Visitation was held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 26th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY.  Entombment followed the Mass at Cedar Hill Cemetery Mausoleum, Middle Hope, NY.
