Face covering required in public

You MUST cover your mouth and nose when in public and when social distancing cannot be maintained, said Governor Andrew Cuomo.

“I am issuing an Executive Order requiring all people in New York to wear a mask or a face covering when out in public and in situations where social distancing cannot be maintained, such as on public transportation,” Cuomo said. “The Executive Order will go into effect on Friday, April 17. Remember that wearing a face covering does not mean you can ignore other precautions — we still direct all New Yorkers to stay at home for all but essential errands.”

” We would be required to wear a mask when dealing with the public and  the cashier at DeCicco’s would be required to wear a mask,” added Town of Cornwall Police Chief Todd Hazard. “The order today basically requires the cashier and the customer to wear the mask. The mask can be a doctor’s type mask, a nail salon mask, a cloth covering, bandana, or a home-made mask.”

Dispatcher Janet Schofield, had the foresight to have a friend make some cloth masks for the town’s officers. Her friend, Sheila Lollie, of Florida, made and donated masks to the department.
