A 74-year-old Ziegler Lane man died during a brush fire on Saturday. The Cornwall resident was burning brush in a wooded area behind his home.
At approximately 3:57 p.m., a 911 call was made for a brush fire in which a male subject was suffering from cardiac arrest. Upon arrival, officers with the Town of Cornwall Police Department and volunteers from Vails Gate Fire Company, found the Cornwall man face down on the ground in the area of the fire. He was unresponsive.
The Orange County Medical Examiner determined the man had succumbed due to his medical condition and/or smoke inhalation.
