Elaine B. Pabst

Elaine B. Pabst passed away peacefully on March 25 at Merrimack County Nursing Home, after a long and brave battle with Alzheimer’s.

Elaine was born on May 14, 1936 in Irvington, N.J. and later moved with her family to Belleville, N.J., where she grew up.She met the love of her life, George (Mickey) Pabst at the Jersey Shore and they married in 1955, settling in River Vale, N.J., then later moved to Cornwall, and then to Hill, NH in 1972.

George opened the Home Beautiful in Belmont, N.H. in the mid-70’s and Elaine worked with him there for many years. Elaine was a woman of great faith. She was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Parrish in Franklin, NH. She loved attending her grandchildren’s games, and enjoyed spending time at the ocean, golfing, gardening, painting, reading and above all loved her family and friends.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Mickey in 2001, parents John and Constance Gorley, and her sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Robert Kerkawich.

She is survived by her five sons, Randall Pabst and wife Karen, Thomas Pabst and wife Susan, David, Gregory and Daniel Pabst; grandchildren, Garrett and Lindsey, Kellie and Adam, Shawn and Derek, Joshua and Victoria and Gabriella; three great-grandchildren Hay-leigh, Henry and Miller; and niece Lois Kerkawich.

The family suggests that donations in Elaine’s memory be made to the Special Care Unit at Merrimack County Nursing Home, 325 Daniel Webster Drive, Boscawen NH 03303. Gertrude E. Schroeder

Palm Harbor, Florida

Gertrude E. Schroeder (Stabb) of Palm Harbor, Fla. died peacefully at her home surrounded by family. She was 100.5 years young.

Born in Hirshflur, East Prussia, she came to the U.S. in 1950. She was an excellent seamstress and worked in the garment industry when first in this country.

Gertrude is pre-deceased by her husband Paul Schroeder.

She is survived by her children Lori Damaschke of Palm Harbor, Fla and Columbia, Ken., and Robert Schroeder and his wife Linda of Newburgh. She had six grandchildren and many great-grands.

In her later years she spent hours “knit, knit, knitting” as she was fond of saying, and many of her handmade blankets will be donated to Empath Hospice. She was quick to tell a joke, had an amazing will to live, and was feisty to the end. She shared many stories of growing up on a farm in Germany with her family, as well as some great recipes.

One of her favorite sayings was “Prepare for the worst, hope for the best”.

She will be deeply missed.

George F. Zint

May 29, 1940 -October 17, 2019

Crystal River, Fla.

George F. Zint, age 79, of Crystal River, Florida, passed away October 17, 2019 at his home under the loving care of his family and Vitas Hospice.

George was born on May 29, 1940 in Cornwall, to Charles Henry and Mary Louise (Johnson) Zint. George graduated from Highland Falls High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the 82nd Airborne. George worked for Texas Instruments, while there he worked on the Gemmeni and Apolo Programs. He retired from West Point as a civil engineer and moved to Citrus County 17 years ago from Cornwall. George was a Little League coach in Cornwall.

Survived by his wife, Patricia Zint; step-son, Ralph Ruggiero; son, Ralph; three brothers, Bob and wife Lis Zint, Richie and wife Maris Zint and Dan and wife Cindy Zint; loving grandchildren, Rachael, Madison and Bella Ruggiero.

Private cremation took place under the direction of Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in Lecanto, Fla. A service was held on October 24, led by Father Ryszard Stradomski from St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Crystal River. American Legion Post 155 of Crystal River rendered military honors. Burial will be at the Florida National Cemetery at a later date.
