Everett Viriato Ferreira

Cornwall

Everett Viriato Ferreira, a longtime Cornwall resident, passed away on Dec. 30 at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. He was 92.

The son of the late Viriato T. and Anna Rose Ferreira, he was born on March 17, 1927 in Oak Bluffs, Mass.

Everett was a veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Merchant Marine Emblem, the Victory Medal, Pacific War Zone Bar and the Atlantic War Zone Bar.

He worked for the United States Post Office as a tractor trailer operator. After his retirement, he worked for Yellow Freight and West Point Tours.

Everett was an avid motorcyclist and loved his Harley. He enjoyed planning his many trips all over the country, and he made many friends everywhere he went. His favorite trip was the yearly Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, and he always rode his bike there and back.

Survivors include: his daughter Lauren Hey and her husband Stephen of Cornwall; grandson Stephen Hey, Jr.; granddaughter Jessica Moore and her husband Eric; great grandchildren: Avery, Addison, Ashlyn and Hudson John Everett.  He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maura Ferreira.

Graveside services are private and will be held at a later date.

Ulf E. Ostman

November 24, 1975-December 30, 2019

Cornwall

Ulf E. Ostman, of Cornwall was overcome by sadness and entered into eternal rest on Dec. 30 in Cornwall. He was 45 years old.

The son of Ake Rolf Ostman and Elvy Irene (Frank) Ostman, both of Stockholm, Sweden, Ulf was born on Nov. 24, 1974 in Nacka, Stockholm, Sweden. He was the loving husband of Charlotte A. (Webb) Ostman.

Ulf received a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He was a proud stay-at-home dad to his adoring children; Elinor T., Jonas C., Griffin E. and Beatrix K., all at home.  He is also survived by his brother, Par Ostman of Varmdo, Sweden.

Ulf was a kind and generous soul who devoted his life to raising his children and supporting his wife.  He loved nature, being outdoors, spending time with his family and caring for his French bulldog, Margot.  He was a strong and loyal friend and will be missed by many.             

Visitation was held on Friday, Jan. 3 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, Jan. 4 at St. Patrick’s Church, in Highland Mills.  Interment followed the Mass at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mountainville.
