Moacyr “Moss” Calhelha

Moacyr “Moss” Calhelha, 71, of Lewes, Del. passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26 at his home. He was born on June 7, 1948 in New York City to the late Maria Ospina and Moacyr Ramos Calhelha. Before moving to Delaware, he was a 30-year resident of this area.
Moss received his bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and his Juris Doctorate from New York Law School. He was an assistant district attorney in New York City before entering private practice. He was actively involved in community affairs including Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh, the American Red Cross, the United Way, and the Boy Scouts of America. He was an avid lifelong sailor.
Moss is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Calhelha of Lewes, his son, Rob Calhelha of Fairfax, Va.; his daughter, Jane Calhelha of Asheville, N.C.; his granddaughters: Maria and Jana Calhelha of Fairfax; and his sister, Daura de Assis of California.
A memorial life celebration will be held at Chelsea Yacht Club on Sunday, Nov. 3 from 2 to 5 p.m. at 19 Front Street, Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh.

Ronald Girardi
September 23, 1948 – September 21, 2019

Ronald Girardi, of New Windsor, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 21 at the age of 70.
The son of the late John Girardi and Doris (Palank) Girardi. Ron was raised in Weehawken, N.J. He graduated with a degree in business from St. Peter’s University in Jersey City.
Ron helped establish Cornwall Girls Lacrosse in 2009. As the program transitioned from the town level to a high school program in 2013, he proudly served as both the varsity head and assistant coach at Cornwall Central High School.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Kathleen (Walsh) Girardi; his older brother and sister-in- law John and Karen Girardi of Barnegat, N.J.; his daughter and son-in-law Kristen (Girardi) and Clint deBree of Cornwall-on-Hudson; his son and daughter-in-law: Brian and Kathryn Girardi of Orangeburg; and his eight grandchildren: Olivia, Jake, Alex, Amelia, Eve, Max, Gillian & Luke.
Memorial visitation was due to be held from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson.

Kathleen F. Nolan
November 27, 1933 – September 25, 2019

Kathleen passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Wingate Nursing Home, in Highland. She was born, second of nine children in New York City to James and Elizabeth McTiernan (both deceased). Kathleen was married for over 60 years to William Nolan (deceased). She was 85 years old.
Kathleen’s greatest love was her family. Kathleen was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Kathleen’s eight siblings include sisters Patricia Moreno, Margaret Nadramia (deceased), Maureen Lucas, Elizabeth Hoey and Joan Carvajal; and brothers: James McTiernan, Daniel McTiernan and Patrick McTiernan. Kathleen’s four children are: Kathleen Phillips (husband Donald), William Nolan (wife Kelly), John Nolan (wife Maureen) and Joanne McDermott (husband Robert); Kathleen’s ten grandchildren are: Jonathan Nolan, Meghan Kokosa, Mary Nolan, Kaitlin Nolan, William Nolan, Daniel Nolan, Jill Nolan, Patrick Nolan, Joshua McDermott and Zachary McDermott. Kathleen had recently been blessed with her first great grandchild: Mairin Kokosa.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc. in Cornwall-On-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, Oct. 3 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson. The service was followed by interment at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Joseph A. Thiell Sr.
Died Sept. 28, 2019
Rochester
Joseph A. Thiell Jr. passed away on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the age of 93. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth.
Born in Milton, Mr. Thiell raised his family in Cornwall. He is survived by his children Joseph (Carole) Thiell Jr., Bruce (Carol) Thiell, Catherine Thiell-Kamp; grandchildren Joseph (Kelly) Thiell, Tara (Frank) Mandato, John (Megan) Thiell, Aaron (Sara) Thiell, Daniel (Coletta Fry) Thiell, Mark (Meredith) Thiell, Caroline and Taylor Kamp; nine great grandchildren; sister Joy (William) Donaldson; several nieces and nephews.
Joe served in the Army Air Force during World War II, as a member of the 15th Airforce 464th Bomber Group, which was stationed in Italy in 1944-1945.
