Allesandrina (“Alice”) Cognitore

October 16, 1924-August 14, 2019

Cornwall

Alice Cognitore, of Cornwall, entered into eternal rest at her home on Aug. 14. She was 94 years old.

The daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina (Paladino) Ruggiero, she was born in Brooklyn on Oct. 16, 1924. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, Carmine Cognitore.

Alice was a wonderful wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a retired Seamstress who enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking her favorite recipes, like her famous eggplant parm and her Christmas zeppoles.

She enjoyed her new life in Cornwall after leaving Brooklyn and she made many new friends there. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Alice is loved and survived by her daughter Christine Butler (Kevin) of Cornwall; her son Michael Cognitore (Diane) of Fleishmanns; three grandchildren Sarah Badanjak (Mark), Christina Koizim (Brian) and Matthew Butler; and four great grandchildren: Maggie Badanjak, Keira Badanjak, Mila Koizim and Carmine Koizim.

Visitation was held on Friday, Aug. 16 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc. in Cornwall-on-Hudson.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Aug. 17 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson,and was followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island.

Devonte Page

October 20, 2003 – August 15, 2019

Tupolo, Mississippi

Devonte Page, 15, passed away on Aug. 15 after a long illness.

A native of Tupolo, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Sandra Page and the late Mark Clayborne, Sr.

He is survived by his grandmothers, Barbara Joyce Clayborne of Highland Falls and Frances Brooks of Tupolo; his brothers Gregory Listen Bee of Tupolo, Mark Clayborne Jr. and Jamal Clayborne of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and Alexus Clayborne of Detroit, Mich.; uncles Jesse Clayborne Jr of Highland Falls and Derrick Clayborne Sr. of Binghamton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; his grandfather Pastor Jesse Clayborne; his brother Michael Clayborne; and his uncles Torence and Michael Clayborne.

Funeral services were held in Tupolo on Aug. 21.

Marie Sheridan

June 19, 1931 – March 11, 2019

Thiells, NY

Marie (Fetcho) Sheridan passed quietly at NY Presbyterian Hospital on March 11 with her daughter by her side.

Marie loved traveling and the arts spending many hours volunteering at the Penguin Rep Theater in Stony Point as well as Helen Hayes in Nyack. She obtained her Bachelors in English at the age of 65, she stayed active through line dancing and had a true love of the library and reading. She was a devout Catholic.

Those who knew her knew her strength of character and staunch independent spirit.

She is survived by her husband Robert P. Sheridan; son Christopher and his wife Danielle (Manulani) Sheridan of Kingston, WA; granddaughters Megan and Raelynn Sheridan; daughter Jennifer (Sheridan) Gargiulo and grandson Gerard C. Gargiulo, both of Highland Falls.

She was predeceased by her sister Ann (Fetcho) Mascenik, father George Fetcho, mother Anna (Tomko) Fetcho, her daughter-in-law Diana (Helliwell) Sheridan, son-in-law Gerard J. Gargiulo and niece Arlene Mascenik.

A mass of Christian Burial was held on March 19 at Immaculate Conception Church 26 John Street, Stony Point, NY 10980.

Marie was generous with various charities and the family asks in lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of your choice in her name.

Robert P. Sheridan

September 7, 1933 – August 10, 2019

Highland Falls

Robert P. Sheridan passed quietly at St. Luke’s Hospital on Aug. 10, his daughter by his side.

Bob was born at Fordham Hospital in the Bronx and was raised in Parkchester. He attended St. Raymond’s Elementary and Cardinal Hayes High School. Soon after graduating he enlisted in the Air Force serving the Korean War. While stationed in Colorado he married Marie (Fetcho) Sheridan also from the Bronx. The pair would have been married 65 years on Sept. 11.

During his service he was honored with the National Defense of Service Medal and his Character of Separation was honorable. He later worked as a purchasing agent in the field of electronics. In retirement Bob loved to sit on his porch and welcome friends or drive about town stopping to chat about everything and anything.

He is survived by his sister Pauline (Sheridan) Burkhardt, of Orchard Park; nephew David Burkhardt and wife Allyson (Marsiglia) Burkhardt of Washington, D.C. and children Mia and Tyler; niece Susan (Burkhardt) Steele and husband Rick of McClean, Va. and son Tanner; son Christopher Sheridan of Kingston, Wash. and wife Danielle (Manulani) and granddaughters Megan and Raelynn Sheridan; daughter Jennifer (Sheridan) Gargiulo and grandson Gerard C. Gargiulo, both of Highland Falls.

Bob is pre-deceased by his father Patrick V. Sheridan, mother Juliette (Leroux) Sheridan-Liddell, brother-in-law Raymond Burkhardt, daughter-in-law Dianna (Helliwell) Sheridan, son-in-law Gerard Gargiulo, and his wife Marie.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Blessed Sacrament Chapel in Fort Montgomery on Aug. 21. He was laid to rest at The Gate of Heaven Cemetery in the Bronx.

Catherine Margaret Weidenhof

July 25, 1944-August 19, 2019

Cornwall

Catherine Margaret Weidenhof, of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Aug. 19 at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. She was 75 years old.

The daughter of the late Clyde Simonds and Muriel (Young) Simonds, Catherine was born on July 25, 1944 in Camden, Maine.
Catherine was a dedicated employee and Administrative Assistant at USMA, West Point for over forty years and spent a total of 53 years in government service.

She enjoyed her family and working with her West Point family. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, quilting and watching Army football.(“Go Army, Beat Navy!”). She was compassionate and dedicated to her family and her work. She will be missed greatly.

Catherine is survived by her loving husband of 52 years: John F. Weidenhof; her son: John D. Weidenhof of Cornwall; her daughter: Christine A. Ulrich and son-in law James Ulrich of Danville, Penn.; her grandchild: Camden Ulrich, and her sister: Ruth Zollinger and her husband Joe Zollinger of Byson City, N.C.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23 at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Funeral Service will be held at 8 p.m. following the visitation. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
