Eileen Chappell

August 28, 1939-January 30, 2019

Cornwall

Eileen Chappell of Cornwall entered into rest on Wednesday, Jan. 30. She was 79.

The daughter of the late Oscar and Ann Cotter Trennes, she was born on Aug. 28, 1939 in the Bronx.

Eileen retired from The Cornwall Hospital where she not only worked, but volunteered as a Pink Lady. She also volunteered as Treasurer for the Boy Scouts for over 20 years. She loved her job and all of the friends she made along the way.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, and her smile and optimistic outlook will be deeply missed.

Eileen is survived by her three sons: Robert and his wife, Tammy and their children: Matthew, Katie and Hailey, all of Cornwall; Michael and his wife, Sue and their children: Kaela and Kylie, all of Warwick; Daniel and his wife, Amy, and their daughter April, all of Florida; godson, Thomas Bodnar; niece Patricia Bodnar and family; sisters: Patricia Bodnar Buehl and Betty Curatolo and family. Lynn, her roommate at Schriever was like a sister, and Marion kept her up to date on life in Cornwall. She was predeceased by her husband, Aaron Chappell.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Donations in Eileen’s memory may be made to the Schervier Pavilion, 22 Van Duzer Place, Warwick, NY 10990.

Mary June Kavanagh

formerly of Cornwall-on-Hudson

Mary June Kavanagh formerly of Cornwall-on-Hudson, passed away peacefully on Feb. 4, surrounded by her loving family in Venice, Fla.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. on Feb. 7 at Quigley- Sullivan Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St Patrick’s-St Mary’s, 55 Grand Street, Newburgh, at 10 am on Feb. 8. A complete obituary will appear next week.

Michael J. Sabel

September 24, 1958- February 4, 2019

Highland Falls

Michael J. Sabel passed away Monday, Feb, 4 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 60 years old.

The son of Doris Sabel and the late William J. Sabel, he was born Sept. 24, 1958 in West Point. Michael was an electrician/plumber with Sabel Plumbing of Fort Montgomery.

Survivors include his mother Doris Sabel of Highland Falls; his companion Joyce Adams; his sister Joan DeYoung and her husband Norman of Highland Falls; his sister-in-law Joni Sabel of Fort Montgomery; his niece Allyson and his nephews Bill, Jared, Eric, Nicholas and Christopher; and his great nephews: Jacque Morgan, Jr. and William DeYoung.

Michael was predeceased by his brother William and sister Shirley Sabel.

Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope. A Graveside Service will be held at noon on Friday, Feb. 15, in Eagle Valley Cemetery, Town of Highlands.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
