He was a fan of folk rock — Crosby, Stills, & Nash and Simon & Garfunkel were among his favorites. An avid cook who enjoyed good food, he was often asked by other officers to cook during overnight shifts at Letchworth. He was also an accomplished baker with a sweet tooth. Meticulous and always curious about how things worked, Riley loved gadgets and collected pens and watches. He told terrible dad jokes, was a grand storyteller, and had a wicked sense of humor.
