It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth A. Meechan announces her passing on Nov. 21, 2018 at her home. She was 90-years-old.
The daughter of the late John Patrick Kelly and Mary Kate (Gilligan) Kelly, Elizabeth was born on Dec. 23, 1927 in New York City.
Elizabeth was blessed with a strong faith. She loved to say the rosary everyday, praying for others, spending time with family, laughing, and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and aunt. She was always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.”
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Susan Ponte and her husband Gary of Cornwall; her son-in-law Joseph Curran of Yonkers; her grandchildren: Kristin (Jonathon) Doyle, Andrew Ponte and Ryan Ponte; her great grandchildren: Emma and Jack Doyle; her sister and best friend: Ellen M. Morrissey of Cornwall; and many loving nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was predeceased by her first husband: Gilbert A Hoyt, Jr. in 1956, and her second husband Joseph F. Meechan in 1986. In addition to her husbands, Elizabeth was predeceased by her loving daughter: Elizabeth Curran; and her brothers: John Patrick and James Kelly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson. Interment will take place at a later date in the family plot in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, NY.
In lieu of donations, the family asks the donations be made the Hospice of Orange and Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook court, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Thomas J. Olivia, Jr.
September 21, 1946 – November 18, 2018
Highland Falls
Thomas “Tom” J. Olivia Jr, 72, a lifelong third generation resident of Highland Falls, passed away at home on November 18, 2018.
He was born on September 21, 1946 in Cornwall to the late Thomas J. and JoAnn (Cuaz) Olivia. Tom graduated from Marist College in 1972 with a Bachelors in Business and later graduated from Long Island University (CW Post) with a Masters in Public Administration.
He worked for the Social Security Administration as a claims/field representative and helped countless beneficiaries as part of his 35 year public service career. In 2009, he retired from the agency he loved so much.
Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen (Martello); his three beloved sons, Daniel (Aleena), Patrick (Lindsey) and Peter, all of Highland Falls. Tom was a proud grandfather, better known as Keepa, to Julia, Daniel Jr. and Alyssa. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Jimmy Martello and sister-in-law, Juanita (Donnie) Cameron and their children. Additional survivors include cousins Cathi (Tom), Michael (Laura), Stacey (Michael) and Pete (Robin) as well as Mary “Angel” Hannan, widow of his late cousin Pete.
Tom was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Highland Falls. He was a dedicated participant throughout his life beginning as an elementary school altar boy. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 515. He loved to read, play chess, complete crossword puzzles and lose to his wife in word games!
He was very thankful for the many kindnesses bestowed upon him by his family, friends and exceptional doctors and medical personnel.
A celebration of life will be held next year. Please remember Tom by doing a good deed or contributing to a charity of your choosing.

Carolyn Ann Thorne
November 17, 1942 – November 21, 2018
Highland Falls
Carolyn Ann Thorne passed away peacefully Wednesday, Nov-ember 21, 2018 in her home in Highland Falls at the age of 76.
Born November 17, 1942 in Franklin, N.J., she was the daughter of Martin R. and Emma Conklin Smith. A longtime resident of the area, she was known for her creative and giving nature.
She is survived by her son Edwyn L. Pierce; her companion Jose L. Matos; granddaughters Kayla M. Pierce and Rayna L. Peirce; brother Martin Smith; and sister Betty Lou Lange.
A memorial service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in New Windsor on November 27.
