Voters say “no” again

School district voters turned down both propositions in yesterday’s referendum.

Proposition 1 would have authorized the expenditure of up to $21.8 million for building and athletic field upgrades. Voters rejected the proposition by a tally of 1,415 to 1,024.

The public also nixed Proposition II, which would have moved  fifth-graders back to the elementary schools at a cost not to exceed $3.05 million. There were 1,542 “no” votes against 897 yeses.

Board of Education President Larry Berger announced  a special meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1 at Lee Road School.
