William J. McCullough passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 88 years old.
The son of the late William J. and Hazel Callahan McCullough, he was born October 3, 1929 in Brooklyn. William was a Disabled American Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea and was a retired sheriff’s deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Goshen.
Survivors include his loving wife, Josephine Diaz McCullough, at home; his son William J. McCullough, III of Monroe; his four daughters – Colleen Pfarr of Colorado, Maureen Ferguson of Naples, Fla., Janet Dean of Fort Montgomery, and Marie Dougherty of Highland Falls; several grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
William was predeceased by his son Thomas McCullough, his sisters Evelyn Davis and Annmarie Durham, and his brother Daniel McCullough.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 10 in Orange County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Goshen.

Suzanne (“Suzie”) Moskala

Suzanne “Suzie” M. Moskala, of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Aug.2 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown. She was 67.
The daughter of the late Jesse Dale Milner and Mary Elizabeth Simerall Milner, Suzie was born on March 24, 1951 in Wheeling, W. Va.
Suzie is survived by her loving husband, Major (ret.) Richard L. Moskala, USA. Suzie obtained her master’s degree in Library Science from the University of Hawaii while her husband was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division. She retired as the Library Director of the West Point Post Library, where she spearheaded and ran the summer reading program for 200 children. Suzie had a strong fondness for children’s literature and knew how important reading was for young minds. She left an everlasting impact on the children in her program.
Besides being an avid reader, Suzie was an accomplished craftsperson and enjoyed crocheting – often sending others homemade baby blankets or afghans. As a hobby breeder of cocker spaniels, she took great pride in her show dogs and loved them all, knowing they would wait for her at the “rainbow bridge.” She will be missed greatly.
In addition to her husband, Suzie is survived by her sisters: Mary Lou Parrish and husband Jeff of, Ohio, and Debra Stringer and husband Mark of Kentucky.
Visitation was on Aug. 7 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A second visitation will be at Toothman Funeral Home in Clairsville, Ohio. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home, and will be followed by interment in St. Clairsville Union Cemetery in Clairsville.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, Aug. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 225 N. Main St., Hubbard, OH 44425, with Rev. Michael Swierz officiating, for Anthony M. Pesa, Jr., 81, who passed away Sunday morning.
Anthony was born June 13, 1937, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Anthony Pesa, Sr. and Josephine Stein.
He served in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1975 as a sergeant first class. He then resided in Highland Falls for 40 years, working for the Highland Falls Police Department, retiring in 1997 as a sergeant.
While residing in New York he was a Mason. Anthony enjoyed bowling and coaching softball while his kids were growing up. He was a parishioner of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. Above all, Anthony cherished his family and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
His wife, the former Frances Petrallo, whom he married Aug. 1, 1957, passed away Jan. 14, 2000.
Anthony will be deeply missed by his sons, Mark (Samantha) Pesa of Geneva, Ala. and Kevin Pesa of Daleville, Ala.; his daughter, Ginamarie Borra of Boardman, Ohio; grandchildren Patrick Pesa, Barbara Pesa and Madison Pesa, and Kenny Borra and Michael Borra; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; his brothers Carl, Johnny, Patrick, Joseph, Thomas, Paul Richard and Michael; his sisters, Pauline Anderson, Jenny Dickerson, Phyllis Henderson and Mary Barber; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents; and his wife Frances; he was preceded in death by his son-in-law Kenny Borra, Sr.; grandchildren Jonathan and Sarah Pesa; and his sister JoAnn Gagliardo.
