Dolores L. Calamari, of Cornwall-on-Hudson entered into eternal rest on April 17 at Wingate at Beacon. She was 86 years old.
The daughter of the late Elmer Orr and Dorothy A. (Johnston) Orr, Dolores was born on June 9, 1931on Academy Avenue in Cornwall-on-Hudson. She was the widow of the late Francis J. Calamari who predeceased her in 2010.
Dolores held an associate’s degree in nursing and retired from St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh as a registered nurse.
She was an active member of the Cornwall Presbyterian Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson where she selfilessly volunteered much of her time. Dolores was known to her grandchildren as a “good cooker,” which always made her smile. She did everything with love, especially cooking. She was also known for “Macho Mondays” when she hosted dinner every Monday evening for her family.
Dolores is survived by her adoring son Terrance and his wife Nancy of Cornwall-on-Hudson; her grandsons Steven (Nikki) Calamari of Rock Tavern, and Andrew Calamari of Cornwall-on-Hudson; and her nephews: David and Alan; and her grandnieces: Kimberly and Christie. In addition to her loving husband, she was predeceased by her brother Wesley F. Orr and her sister-in-law Joan Wallace Orr.
Visitation was held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 20 at the funeral home; Rev. Patricia Calahan will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery, in New Windsor.
