LTC Pedro Espinoza II

Lieutenant Colonel Pedro R. Espinoza II, (retired), “Ponce”, passed away April 3 at his home in Highland Falls.
A native of Simi Valley, Calif., Ponce earned his commission in the Army from the U.S. Military Academy, graduating in 1993. While at West Point, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and played on the Army soccer team. Ponce spent 20 years on active duty as a Signal Corps officer serving in assignments in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
Retiring in 2013 as a lieutenant colonel, he worked in the information technology sector in Colorado before returning to Highland Falls in 2017.
Ponce’s life was spent loving his family, coaching and engaging in the lives of his amazing children, and showing them the world first-hand.
Ponce is survived by his wife, Kim Donnery Espinoza; and their four children: Isabella, Gabriella, James and Sophia. He is also survived by his mother, Theresa Espinoza of Simi Valley; brother and sister-in-law, James and Luv Espinoza; and sister and brother-in-law, Monica and Hogan Wagner. Ponce is additionally survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Roxanne Donnery of Highland Falls.
He is predeceased by his father, Peter Espinoza.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, April 13, leading to a 10 a.m. church service at Old Cadet Chapel at West Point followed immediately by a burial with military honors in West Point Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation in Ponce’s name.

Raymond Russell Lewis
August 3, 1926-April 8, 2018
formerly of Cornwall
Raymond Russell Lewis, originally from Cornwall, passed away on April 8 after a long illness. He was born on August 3, 1926 to Charles and Marjorie (Malloy) Lewis.
Raymond was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Navy in Africa and Sicily before working for The Operating Engineers Local 825 until his retirement.
Raymond married Joan Alberta Benker on June 12, 1949. They had almost 50 years of love and devotion until Joan’s passing in 1999. He and Joan were the ideal couple full of love, ambition and compassion, helping everyone they met. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew and loved him. Raymond was a father figure, mentor and rock to so many.
Raymond is survived by his loving sons: Mark (Kathy) and Keith (Bobbie); his six grandchildren: Kyle, Brett, Kelly, Mark, Devon and Emmary Lewis. They were the lights of his life and he was theirs. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Morgan and his niece Marjorie (Chris) Sherwood, who went above and beyond their duties of a sister and niece with their love and devotion to him. Raymond is also survived by many loving relatives and friends, all who thought the world of him. He was predeceased by his sister Jennie and his brother Everett.
His family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 12 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 13 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson. Interment with Military Honors will follow at The Cemetery of the Highlands in Highland Mills.

Rosemary Sublett (Chris Stevens)
September 4, 1925-March 29, 2018
Cornwall
Artist and singer, Rosemary Sublett, (Chris Stevens) 92, has passed away on March 29 peacefully in her home. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Jeane and Barbara Manson, her five grandchildren Shirel, Marianne, Cristina, Vincent, and Gregory; as well as her great grandchildren Liam and Luna and her sister Hellen and brother-in-law Bob Antonovich.
She was born Sept. 4, 1925 in Shenandoah, Penn. and spent her childhood in Westchester before joining the USO show as part of a quartette in the musical “Panama Hattie,” entertaining troops throughout Europe during World War II. Upon returning home to the U.S. she sang with the Louis Prima Orchestra.
After meeting her husband John Manson during the war, she raised her children in Mexico City and Newport Beach, Calif. before moving to Paris, France to be with her daughter Jeane and granddaughters Shirel and Marianne where she sang and painted.
Rosemary has spent the last 20 years of her life in Cornwall with her daughter Barbara and grandchildren Cristina, Vinny, and Greg as they grew up.
While living in Cornwall she spent her time painting and singing with the The Hotsy Totsies.
She received many Art Awards internationally for her incredible artwork and has paintings in private collections as well as in the National Assembly in Paris.
Currently, Rosemary has pieces of her artwork collection displayed in Painter’s Tavern in Cornwall-on-Hudson until the end of April.
She had a zest for life, painting, singing and cuisine. Rosemary had an incredibly beautiful and full life and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
There will be a celebration of her life in Idlewild Creek Seniors Community Center in Cornwall on Sunday, April 15 between 2-4 p.m.
