Joseph H. Crill passed away on Sunday, Jan. 14 at his home in Highland Falls. He was 88 years old.
Son of the late Harrison and Helen Schumske Crill, he was born April 20, 1929 in Highland Falls.
A lifelong resident of the area, Joseph worked at the Cadet Mess at USMA West Point for 38 years. He was a member and former usher with Sacred Heart Church of Highland Falls and he loved hunting and fishing.
He will be missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Marie F. Crill, at home, and his many nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his brothers: Carl “Pete” Crill and Howard Crill.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, Jan. 19 at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St., Highland Falls. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.

Robert L. Strickland

Cornwall
Robert L. Strickland, of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Jan. 15 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, in Newburgh after a brief illness. He was 73.
The son of the late William Strickland and Vera Wilson, Robert was born on July 23, 1944 in Newburgh. His mother remarried and Robert was raised by his stepfather Thomas Wilson.
Bob was a retired truck driver with Teamsters Local 445. He honorably and proudly served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era.
He was a parishioner of St. Thomas of Canterbury/ St. Joseph church. Bob was ceaseless in his service to the elderly, which included his weekly catering to people of need through “Meals on Wheels.” On any day of the week, Bob might drive a child to school or take a person in need to a doctor or a hospital. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed countless “adventures” with his children and grandchildren whom he loved selflessly.
Bob loved to travel and cruise the seas and recently visited the Panama Canal, Italy, and Hawaii. He looked forward to his annual trips to South Carolina and Florida.
Bob served his country, community and family without reservation or complaint. His wife of 51 years, Carol, was his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. He will be missed greatly.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Carol Ann Strickland at home; his sons: Robert L. Strickland and his wife Joanne, Jason L. Strickland and his wife Deva; his daughter Charisse (Strickland) Pagano and her husband Anthony; his grandchildren Mia and Sarah; and his sister Cheryl Jean Lamb and brother-in-law Buzz Lamb.
