There will be a short reinternment service for Joseph Trundle Griffin, Jr. at the West Point Cemetery on December 20 at 10 a.m. Col. Griffin died on April 29, 2016 in Florence, SC.
Joseph Griffin was born on July 13, 1927 in Baltimore, Md. and was raised in Frederick, Md. He graduated from USMA in 1950, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He retired at West Point in 1980 as the director of Security and Operations. Among his decorations are three Legions of Merit, two Silver Stars, two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts. An exceptional gentleman, devout Episcopalian, and a professional soldier, he was often heard stating, “It’s not what the Army can do for me, it’s what I can do for the Army.”
He was predeceased by his wife Elisabeth and survived by his two sons, Joseph and his wife Martha of Pawley’s Island, S.C. (formally of Ketchum, Id.) and Earl Todd of Highland Falls.
Ny Ou

Cornwall
Ny Ou, of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Dec. 9 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, in Newburgh. She was 82.
The daughter of the late Kun Suon and Leang (Kim) Suon, Ny was born on Aug. 4, 1935 in Kandal, Cambodia.
She was a courageous and compassionate mother, foster-mother, wife, grandmother and child of God. Beloved by her family, Mommy Ung kept her family together, even in the midst of war-torn Cambodia, willing to sacrifice her own life for her children. Her compassion drove her to adopt more children who lost their families during the genocide.
By the grace of God, the Ung family was able to move to the United States where the language, customs and culture were all foreign. In spite of that, Mommy Ung worked tirelessly to provide for her family and continually called her children to strive for excellence, reminding them of their true identity.
Throughout her life and particularly toward the end of her life, her love of listening to God’s Word and Khmer Christian hymns were what brought her great joy and peace. We thank God for the life that He gave her, reflecting grace, dignity, compassion and generosity for so many under her care.
Ny is survived by her children: Giullaume, PoHai, Yvonne, PoHeng, Robert (PoHort), Malise, PoSan, and Pochea; nineteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her brother: Kun Taing Suon.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A chapel service will be held at 12 p.m. following visitation at the funeral home. Interment will follow the Service at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Middle Hope.
Paul Yehl

Paul Douglas Yehl, 62, of Highland Falls, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born Dec. 18, 1954 in Alleghany, and relocated to Stony Point where he was raised from the age of eight by Emil and Patricia (Manley) Yehl. He graduated from North Rockland High School in 1972 and Alfred Technical College in 1974. On March 1, 1975 he married the one and only love of his life, Loma P. McElroy of Tomkins Cove. Paul was employed as a structural engineer for 40 years at Flaregas Corporation. He owned his own contracting business, Paul’s Home Improvements. He and his wife also ventured into business together as the proprietors of Sidestreet Saloon, located in Highland Falls, in 2008.
Paul was a true outdoorsman, an avid hunter, boater, and ice fisherman. He enjoyed the times he spent out west with his brothers and cousins, being on the lake fishing with his family and friends, and his endless love of The Hudson River. An overall lover of what life had to offer. Paul set the bar high as a husband, father, grandfather, friend and employee; a true Renaissance Man.
He was the epitome of a gentleman, a pillar of his community, and a constant strength and role model for his family, friends, and all of those who knew him.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Loma P. (McElroy) Yehl; brothers and sisters Terry (Donna) Yehl of Richland, Wash., Brenda (Yehl) Duraski of Bowling Green, Ken., Valerie (Yehl) Berger of Olean, NY, and John (Linda) Yehl of Liberty; his adoring children, Christine (Yehl) Zeppieri, Jason Yehl, and Charlene Yehl; his cherished grandsons, Vincent, Zachary, Christian and Luca; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.
A celebration of life service was held on Dec. 9 at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in Stony Point.
Robert Zaborowski
June 14, 1940-November 21, 2017
Highland Falls
Master Sgt. Robert Zab-orowski, U.S. Army retired, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21 at VA Hudson Valley Health Care System in Montrose. He was 77 years old.
Son of the late Henry F. and Pauline Korduszenski Zaborowski, he was born June 14, 1940 in Meriden, Conn. Robert retired as a master sergeant after over 23 years in the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War and then as a member of the U.S. Military Academy Band at West Point. He was the long-time commander of the American Legion O’Connor-Doyle Post 633 in Highland Falls.
Survivors include his sisters, Marilyn Wagner- Janssen and her husband, Philip Janssen, and Catherine Baran and her husband Robert Baran; as well as several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17 at the Old Cadet Chapel, West
