Doris Bushell

Doris Bushell, 92, a resident of Orange County died on Nov. 22 after a long illness. The daughter of George and Bella Bushell, she was born in New York City on May 12, 1925.
After graduation from High School in the Bronx, Doris joined the US Naval Reserve in 1945 as Seaman First Class, serving in Indiana and Tennessee. She was also the recipient of the Seaman First Class Victory Medal several years later.
Doris attended the Traphagen School of Fashion Design in New York City for three years. In 1954 her family moved to Denmark, Maine where she became a Buyer for the Carroll Reed Ski Shop in Conway, N. H., an international mail order house. Later Doris owned and operated a fabric store with a sewing school.
In the 1980’s, Doris moved back to Fort Lee, N. J. and taught sewing in the “Palisadium” (a large living complex that included sports and services). She then worked and finally retired from the business office of Kwasha Lipton Finances in Fort Lee.
In 1995 she moved back to Orange County continuing her sewing and creative skills, and joined the Cornwall Garden Club and helped to maintain the Sands Ring Home at Christmas and other yearly events.
Doris is survived by her brother: John and her sister-in-law Carol of Cornwall; her nieces Jacqueline and Catherine; and her nephews: George, Paul and James. Doris was predeceased by her brothers: Robert and Donald Bushell.
Memorial visitation and a funeral service was held on Dec. 2 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. The service was followed by interment with military honors at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.
Kathleen M. Leahy

Kathleen M. Leahy, of New Windsor entered into eternal rest on Dec. 3 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. She was 74 years old.
The daughter of the late William C. Hoffman and Leah (Oak) Hoffman, Kathleen was born on July 26, 1943 in Manhattan, N.Y.
She was an active child of god who cherished her Christian faith and beliefs. Mom believed in goodness and our many unrealized potentials as human beings. She believed that we are capable of much more than we know and devoted much of her life to learning, exploring and teaching about the unseen and spiritual potentials we all have. She was kind, thoughtful, generous and forgiving. Her spirit, strength, courage and resolve are an example to us all.
Mom passed into the afterlife surrounded by her loved ones, whisked away by angels and free from the confines of her earthly body to explore the mysteries of the universe. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband William E. Leahy at home; her sons: William Leahy and his wife Diana of Montgomery, Joseph P. Leahy of Wallkill, and Michael T. Leahy of Albany; her daughter: Elizabeth M. (Leahy) Reynolds and her husband Robert of Wallkill; 11 grandchildren; and her sisters: Dorothy Cacchioli and Leah Dillemuth.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson. A chapel service will follow visitation at 5 p.m. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.
Anita Antonina Morales

Anita Antonina Morales, of Cornwall, entered into eternal rest on Nov. 28 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. She was 79 years old.
The daughter of the late Frank Ragusa and Sarah (Manino) Ragusa, Anita was born on March 19, 1938 in Brooklyn.
“Mom was a generous and loving person who put others before herself,” her family said. “She believed in helping others and donated her time and clothing to the needy whenever she could. She was a beautiful woman with a large heart and truly believed that God was with her throughout all of life’s trials and tribulations.” She will be missed greatly.
Anita is survived by her loving companion Jerry Petronella; her sons Michael, Anthony and Dominick; her daughter: Michelle Evans; her sister: Christine Miller; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Visitation and a prayer service was held on Dec. 4 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-On-Hudson. Cremation occurred at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
