Doris Bushell

Doris Bushell, a long-time member of the Cornwall Garden Club who helped to maintain the Sands Ring Homestead, died on Nov. 22 after a long illness. She was 92.
Memorial visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Dec. 2 at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A service will be held at noon, followed by interment with military honors at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.
Michael J. Murphy
February 7, 1989 – November 25, 2017

Michael James Murphy, 28, a lifelong area resident, died on Nov. 25 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital.
Born on Feb. 7, 1989 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Michael was the son of Timothy and Marlene (Rich) Murphy. Michael worked as an emergency medical technician for EMStar in Poughkeepsie for 10 years. He worked part time for and was a member of the Town of Highlands Ambulance Corps, and a life member of the Union Vale Fire Department and Rescue Squad. He was past EMS lieutenant, captain and rescue chief of Union Vale, past captain of Pine Plains Rescue Squad, and member of The Ancient Order of Hibernians in Wappingers Falls. He was also an amateur radio operator under call sign KC2MJR.
On Oct. 28, 2017 at Holy Trinity, Michael married Jennifer Becker who survives at home. He is also survived by his parents, Timothy and Marlene Murphy of LaGrange; sister Meghan Murphy of LaGrange; grandparents, Doris and James Murphy of Millbrook; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Walter and Debra Becker; sister-in-law, Laura Becker; brother-in-law, Stephen Becker; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Michael and Margaret Rich.
The Mass of Christian Burial was offered on November 30 at Holy Trinity, Poughkeepsie followed by interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Millbrook.

Theodore Allen Riecker
April 16, 1934 – November 24, 2017

Theodore “Ted” Allen Riecker, of Cornwall, entered into eternal rest after a long illness on Friday, Nov. 24 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 83 years old.
The son of the late Theodore C. Riecker and Gladys W. (Simpson) Riecker, Ted was born on April 16, 1934 in Nyack.
He met his wife Bernice in high school and was happily married for 59 years. He was retired after working for many years in the kitchen cabinet business. He graduated from Pearl River High School and Pace University. Ted loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was an incredible athlete and excelled at golf, high diving, basketball, baseball, football and track in high school.
Ted honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army, 3rd Armored Division, stationed in Germany. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Pearl River Hook and Ladder Company.
Ted is survived by his beloved wife Bernice; his daughter Tracie Riecker of Cornwall; his son Ted Riecker and his wife Catherine of Wolf Lake, N.Y.; a grandson Ted Riecker; a brother: Don Riecker and his wife Janice of Lake Bomoseen, Vt.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday Nov. 28 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A funeral service was held on Nov. 29 at the funeral home. Interment followed the Service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mountainville.

Joan M. Stehn
September 15,1948 – November 26, 2017
Highland Falls
Joan M. Stehn, affectionately known as “Babcia”, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 26 at her home in Highland Falls. She was 69 years old.
Born Sept. 15, 1948 in Rockville Centre, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Helen Sheeckutz Zembruski. Joan was the medical librarian with Keller Army Community Hospital in West Point.
Survivors include her sons: Michael J. Stehn and wife Krista of Alexandria, Va. and Jeffrey J. Stehn of Fort Walton Beach, Fla; brothers: H. Michael Zembruski of East Meadow and Donald R. Zembruski of West Chester, Penn.; and two grandchildren, Bailey and Connor.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls. A Funeral Service will commence at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday evening in the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.
