Harold G. Beal, Jr.

Colonel Harold G. Beal Jr of Spring Lake Heights, passed away Sun-day, Sept. 10.
Born in The Bronx on Feb. 3, 1929, Harold was a proud Army veteran with a 30-year military career which included serving as associate director of admissions and Reserve Affairs advisor from 1971-1978 at the U.S. Military Academy. While at West Point he also served as cross-country coach. He continued his affiliation with West Point in 1980 as academic dean of the USMA Prep School at Ft. Monmouth, where he also served as head cross-country coach. He was a resident of Highland Falls from 1978-1980.
He graduated from Fordham University in 1951 and earned master’s degrees from Columbia University in 1958 and CW Post in 1974. A lifelong educator, he served in teaching, administrative and coaching roles at several schools. An accomplished basketball referee rising to the rank of a Big East official, he was a marathoner and triathlete into his 80s.
He was a parishioner of St. Catharine & St. Margaret Parish in Spring Lake where he served as a lector.
He is predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Audrey. He is survived by three sisters Patricia Kelleher, Collette Cannon and Jane Casson; seven children, Jeanne Weaver of Havre de Grace, Md., Harold Beal (Patti) of Milwaukee, Wis., Catherine Cheney (Joseph) of Indio, Calif., Jo Ann Beal (Stephen Speechly) of St. Augustine, Fla., Matthew Beal (Collette) of Brick, NJ, Mark Beal (Michele) of Toms River, NJ, Christopher Beal (Holly) of Scarsdale; 18 grandchildren; and more than 20 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Sept. 15 at 9 a.m. at St. Catharine’s Church, Spring Lake. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ with military honor guard. Arrangements under the direction of O’Brien Funeral Home.
John B. “Jack” Edsall

John B. “Jack” Edsall, Jr., of Cornwall-on-Hudson, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 6 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, with his family by his side. He was 85 years old.
The son of the late John B. Edsall, Sr. and Sadie (O’Mara) Edsall, Jack was born on Sept. 20, 1931 in Cornwall.
Jack was a retired Accounting Clerk for the Commissary at the United States Military Academy in West Point. He honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Jack was a past president and long–time member of the Highland Engine Company No. 1 of the Cornwall Fire Department and a member of the New York Department of the American Legion. His family said, “Jack loved spending time with his family, especially his great-grandchildren, and relaxing at the riverfront park in the Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson. He will be missed greatly.”
Jack was predeceased by his wife, Jeanette G. (Helbing) Edsall. He is survived by devoted friend, Nancy McGuire of Cornwall-on-Hudson; his sons: Mike (Michele) Edsall of Cornwall, Mark (Maureen) Edsall of Cornwall-on-Hudson; four grandchildren: Bridget (Dan) Lennon, Erika (Matt) Luksa, James, and Karin; and two great-grandchildren: McClain and Niamh.
His family received visitors on Sept. 10 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was held. on Sept. 11 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson, and was followed by interment with military honors at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Margaret Hinkson

Margaret Hinkson of Cornwall entered into rest on Friday, Sept. 8. She was 83.
The daughter of the late William and Marion Brown, she was born on May 10, 1934 in Queens.
Margaret had a passion for painting and a love for animals. She and her late husband John owned the Cornwall Deli on Main Street for over 50 years. Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and she will be deeply missed.
Survivors include: daughters: Kathleen Keegan; Karen L. Hinkson-Buck and her husband, Charles; Jane Clark and her husband, John; sons: Chris Hinkson and his wife, Teresa; Edward W. Hinkson; Kenneth W. Hinkson and his wife, Roxanne; Michael R. Hinkson; grandchildren: Krissy L. DiFrancesco and her husband, Adam; Trinity Buck; Sarah Keegan; Joseph Keegan; Carly Clark; Brittany Clark; Jennifer, Jerica and Jackie Hinkson; and J.R. Hinkson. She was predeceased by her husband, John R. Hinkson and her son, John C. Hinkson.
Her family received visitors on Sept. 12 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A funeral service was held on Sept. 13 at the funeral home and was followed by interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Christopher D. Phair
November 26, 1965-September 9, 2017

Christopher D. Phair of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Sept. 9 at home. He was 51 years old.
The son of the late William R. Phair and Margaret (McCabe) Phair, Christopher was born on Nov. 26, 1965 in New York City.
A graduate of Cornwall Central High School, Christopher honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force in Germany. He was a maintenance supervisor for Soundview Paper Company in Elmwood Park, N.J.
Chris was a gentle soul who will long be remembered for his kindness and caring nature – to know him, was to love him. He was a talented craftsman who left his mark on so many lives. Chris loved his family and felt his greatest accomplishments were his children.
In addition to his mother, Christopher is survived by his loving wife, Dianne M. (Polkowski) Phair at home; his son: Christopher D. Phair, Jr. at home; his daughter: Carly M. Phair and her fiancé Christopher; his brothers: William (Ellen) Phair of Cornwall, and Stephen (Cindy) Phair of Rockaway, N.J; his sister: Patricia Tinelli and her fiancée Kevin of Petaluma, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial visitation was held on Sept. 13 and 14 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A chapel service was held on the second morning at the funeral home. Inurnment with military honors followed the Service at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.

George J. Rosko, Jr.
August 16, 1950 – September 9, 2017

George J. Rosko, Jr. passed away on Sept. 9 at his home in Highland Falls. He was 67 years old. Son of Dorothy Franchak Rosko and the late George J. Rosko, Sr., he was born Aug. 16, 1950 in Perth Amboy, N.J.
George retired after 28 years with the U.S. Army and served during Vietnam and Desert Storm with the 7th Calvary. He was a member of the VFW of Newburgh and West Milford, N.J., a member of the Wallkill Fish & Game Club, a member of Sacred Heart Church of Highland Falls, and a 1975 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. George worked in various restaurants in the D.C. area, meeting many dignitaries throughout his career.
Survivors include his fiancée, Linda Lamica-Ciccarelli of Highland Falls; his first wife, Kathy Ann Deyong; his mother, Dorothy Quina of Woodbridge, N.J.; his daughters: Jannine Highers of Greenwood Lake, Michelle Rosko of Greenwood Lake, Renee Quesada and her husband Felix of Colorado Springs, Col.; his sister, Dorothy Thompson of Fords, N.J.; his grandchildren: Kaytlyn, Austin, Emily, Aiden, Abigail, Savannah, and Merrick; his great-grandchildren: Zachary and Arizona; his uncle Joseph Franchak of Delaware, and his nieces and nephews: Adrienne, Stevie and Alexa, and Gary and Sara.
Visitation was held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 14 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Highland Falls.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 15 at Sacred Heart Church 353 Main Street, Highland Falls. Interment will follow in Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.
Carol Sangricoli
September 11, 1944-September 5, 2017

Carol Sangricoli, 6 days short of her 73rd birthday, passed away at her home on Sept. 5.
Born in Cornwall on Sept. 11, 1944, she worked as a custodian for the Newburgh City School District.
She Married Frank A. Sangricoli on Sept. 12, 1965, and would have celebrated 52 years of marriage on this past Tuesday.
Also survived by her children; son Joseph and wife Michelle of Middletown, daughters Gina and Beth of Newburgh, sister Loretta and husband Dave VanDemark of Washingtonville, and sister Margaret and husband Nick Battista of New Windsor. Her grandchildren: Joey, Steven, Brittney, Nicollet and Mark, and great grandson Gage, as well as several nieces and nephews, and cousins, and loving aunt Beulah Politi of Newburgh.
She was predeceased by her parents, Annio & Clara DiDonato. Carol was a lover of animals, an advocate against animal cruelty. Her two little dogs, Tito and Zoey were always at her side.
Her family received visitors on Sept. 10 at the DiDonato Funeral Service, Inc. Family and Friends gathered on the following morning at St. Francis Church in Newburgh for a Mass of Christian Burial.
