Fern A. Blair

December 13, 1923-August 22, 2017

Cornwall

Fern A. Blair, 93 of Cornwall, entered into rest on Tuesday, Aug. 22. The daughter of the late William and Marjorie (Applegate) Ego, she was born Dec. 13, 1923 in Newark, N.J. She was married to the late Kurt Boentgen and the late John Blair Sr.

Fern was a registered nurse in Andover, N.J. In her younger years she was a Rockette at Radio City Music Hall in Manhattan. She loved tap dancing and was a “Cornwall Tapper.” Fern was a member of Cornwall Presbyterian Church and a volunteer at Elant at Newburgh.

Survivors include her son, John Blair and his wife Maureen of Fishkill, her daughter Christine Bergensten and her husband Robert of Florida; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to Kurt and John, she was predeceased by her daughter, Denise Johnson, in 2016.

Her family received visitors on Aug. 25 at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh. A service was held after visiting hours at the funeral home, with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.

Michael A. Conmy

May 22, 1970 – August 24, 2017

Cornwall

Michael “Mike” A. Conmy, of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Aug. 24 at home with his loving family by his side.  He was 47 years old.

The son of Thomas L. and Marcella K. Conmy, Mike was born on May 22, 1970 in the Bronx.  He was a Regional Manager for KCI Acelity in San Antonio, Texas.

Mike was a patient, honorable man who devoutly loved his family and a true friend to so many.

In addition to his parents, Mike is survived by his loving wife, Marie Conmy; his cherished sons, Thomas, Daniel and Charles Conmy; his precious daughter, Lillian Conmy; his brothers, Daniel and Douglas Conmy; and his loving sisters-in-law, Tara and Kris; his brothers-in-law, Daniel (Kelly) and John (Barbara) Leen; and many dear friends.

His family received visitors  on Sunday, Aug. 27 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held. on Aug. 28 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson and was followed by interment  at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall.

Wallace C. Lewis Sr.

December 30, 1937 – August 19, 2017

formerly of Highland Falls

Wallace C. Lewis Sr. (Bruh) 79, passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 19, 2017.

Wallace was born on December 20, 1937 in Fort Deposit, Ala. to Isaac Lewis and Lillian Robinson Lewis.

After graduating from high school, he relocated to Highland Falls with his parents and siblings. Wallace joined St. John AME Zion Church; he was an active member of the male chorus and Steward Board. He was a charter member of the Afro American Mens Club. Wallace retired after 40 years with D.H.P.W. at West Point and was a supervisor with Sterling Forest for 28 years. He relocated to Montgomery, Ala. where he joined the Oak St AME Zion Church.

Wallace will be missed by his wife, Marcella Calhoun Lewis of Selma, Ala.; daughters Mary Lewis Carroll (Ronnie) of Woodbridge, Va, Jacqueline Lewis of Lorain, Ohio, and Michelle Hunter McQueen (Dwayne) of Highland Falls; sons Wallace Cecil Lewis Jr. (Erica) of Lorain, Ohio, and Warren Hunter, Jason Lewis and Antwon Lewis all of Highland Falls.  He is also survived by his brother, Roy Lewis Sr. (Vernell) and brother-in-law, Wendell Baker Sr. all of Montgomery, Ala.; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by his parents; sisters Marion Mott and Mattie Baker; brother Willie Lee Lewis, Sr.; sister-in-law Annie Doris Talley Lewis; brother-in-law Charles Mott; grandson Marquis McCall; and parents-in-law, Melvin and Exie Calhoun.

Visitation and service were held on August 30 at St. John AME Zion Church, Highland Falls with Rev. Moses Carter Sr. officiating. Final visitation and service will be September 2 at Oak Street AME Zion Church, Montgomery, Ala., with Rev. William Patterson officiating. Interment at Fort Deposit Cemetery, Fort Deposit, Ala.

Hugh A. McTamaney

February 13, 1924 – August 22, 2017

Wayne, NJ

Hugh A. McTamaney, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at CareOne at Wayne in Wayne, NJ.  He was 93 years old.

Son of the late James and Mary Gilmore McTamaney, he was born February 13, 1924 in Newburgh.  He was the widower of Joan Wetz McTamaney who predeceased him in 1994.

Hugh was a retired supervisor for housing at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and was a clerk in the administration offices for the superintendent of Bear Mountain.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #515.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Nancy A. McTamaney of West Milford, NJ, and his brother-in-law Jon H. Wetz and his family of Cape Cod, MA.
Hugh was predeceased by his brother James McTamaney.

Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.  Memorial Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, September 1 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls.  Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Regina Ann Parry

February 15, 1949 – August 22, 2017

Highland Falls

Regina Ann Parry, 68, a lifelong resident of Highland Falls, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill.  The daughter of the late Henry G. Parry, Jr. and Alice Borrow Parry, she was born February 15, 1949 in Troy.

Gina was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Highlands in Highland Falls.  She will always be remembered for her smile and amazing memory. She had many friends in Highland Falls and at Valley View Nursing facility where she spent the last fifteen years.  Gina passed on her love of reading by helping her nephew and nieces learn to read.

Survivors include her mother, Alice; her brother Richard D. Parry and his wife Marcia of Highland Falls; her sister Martha Fredette of Brookline, NH; her brother-in-law Jim Leo of Highland Falls; her nephew Richard D. Parry, Jr. of Dallas, Tex. and his son Riley; and her nieces Elizabeth Parry of Highland Falls, Rachel Patterson, her husband Aaron and their son Connor of Highland Falls, Sarah Leo of Highland Falls, Abigail Leo of Middletown, Mary Fredette of Cambridge, Mass., Grace Fredette of Brookline, NH.

In addition to her father, Gina was predeceased by her sister Leslie Leo.

A Funeral Service was held on Wednesday, August 30 at the United Methodist Church of the Highlands, Highland Falls.  Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope.
