Loretta Frances Fanning of Cornwall went to be with our Lord on Friday, July 28.
The daughter of the late John and Ella Schroff Kinsler, she was born on June 18, 1937 in Otisville.
Loretta graduated from Cornwall-on-Hudson High School, Westchester Community College and Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing. She completed her BSN from Dominican College. She practiced her nursing in Washington, D.C, and the Cornwall Hospital, finally retiring after 30 years from Keller Army Hospital in West Point.
She was married to John Fanning in May 1970 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, Cornwall-on-Hudson. She was a 60 year member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Rita #264, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and a communicant of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church.
Survivors include: sisters: Ann Dame of Cornwall-on-Hudson, and Ellen Larkin of Walden; nephews: Jon Dame (Rita) of Haddon Heights, N.J., Steven Larkin (Melanie) of Cornwall-on-Hudson, Scott and Kevin Larkin of Cornwall; nieces: Sarah Larkin of Highland, Tracy Stadler of Walden, Rebecca and Jennifer Dame of Cornwall-on-Hudson; eight great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece; and her lifelong friend, Colette Fulton of Cornwall.
Her family received visitors on August 1 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on August 2 at at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Interment followed in St. Thomas Cemetery.
The family requests that donations in Loretta’s memory be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550.

Eric Huber passed away on Saturday, July 29 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh. His family will receive visitors at Quigley Brothers Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson from noon to 3 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13. An obituary will appear in next week’s issue of The Cornwall Local.

Dorothy L. Lugg, 92, of Pen Argyl, Penn., formerly of Cornwall, died July 22 at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem, Penn. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Frederick Lugg.
Born in Pen Argyl she was the daughter of the late Walter & Lois (Jeffery) Lee.
She was a member of St. John Evangelical Church in Pen Argyl where she was active in Sunday School and choir.
She loved gardening, quilting, and cross stitch.
Dorothy is survived by three daughters Susanne Straub (John) of Pen Argyl, Bonnie MacHenry of Montclair, Va., and Karen Boden (Dudley) of Cornwall-on-Hudson. A sister Pat Duran (Bob) of Mount Bethel. Penn. Seven grandchildren Tim Morris, Mike Morris (Monica), Christina Straub, Sean MacHenry, Craig MacHenry (Claire), Laura Ramirez (Josue’) and Haley Boden. Seven great grandchildren Andrew Morris (Jamee), Rebecca Farrow (Jon), Jake Morris, McKenna Straub, Rylee Straub, Leah Morris, and Will MacHenry. Three great great grandchildren Natalee Ashley, Maddie Farrow, and Zoey Farrow. Predeceased by son in laws Ronald Morris, William MacHenry, an infant daughter Sandra Kay, a brother Thomas Lee, a sister Eleanor Cory.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 12, at 1 p.m.. at St. John Evangelical Church 12 N. Westbrook Ave. Pen Argyl, Penn.. The family will greet guests at a reception after the service. Arrangements are in the care of Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, Pen Argyl, PA

Patrick A. Pacenza

Patrick A. Pacenza, Jr., of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on July 26 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. He was 75.
The son of the late Patrick A. Pacenza, Sr. and Marion M. (Coons) Pacenza, he was born on Feb. 4, 1942 in Cornwall.
Patrick attended Newburgh Schools until October, 1959 and then graduated from Cornwall Central High School in 1960. He was employed by ShopRite, Hannaford and AT&T and was a retired System Analyst for IBM in Sterling Forest.
Patrick honorably and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as an SP5 during the Vietnam Era.
He was a member of Storm King Engine Co. #2, where he served as Treasurer, and Orange County Volunteer Firefighters Association, where he served as Financial Secretary.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Sharen A. Pacenza, at home; his son, Patrick A. Pacenza, III and his wife April of Ramsey, N.J.; his grandchildren, Ashley, Kyle, Victoria, Zachary, Luke and Dylan; his brothers, Robert, Thomas (Carolyn), James (Gladys), Richard (Debbie), Peter (Gayle); his sister, Candace (Pacenza) Havner (Charlie); his brother-in-law, Jimmy Needham (Denise); his sister-in-law, Doreen (Charlie) LaFranca; his cousins, Shirley Curizzo, Marie (Ron) Sadler, Pat (Sooky) and Pat Spina, Joseph (Linda) Spina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Patrick was predeceased by a son, Steven Patrick Pacenza-Griggs, his grandparents, Joseph and Eva Pacenza and Clayton and Marion Coons.
His family received visitors on July 31 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Funeral Service was held on Aug. 1 at the Grace Methodist Church, in Newburgh, and was followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.

Deacon William “Bill” F., Stafford, Jr.

Deacon William “Bill” F., Stafford, Jr., of Carmel, N.Y. entered into eternal rest on July 26 at age 77.
The son of the late William and Elizabeth (Gregorec) Stafford, he was born on Feb. 14, 1940 in Newburgh. He was ordained a Catholic Deacon and was assigned to St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; son, William F. Stafford III; daughters Caryn Sobel (Robert), Gayle Delfs (David) and Jacquelyn Kunda (Scott).
Visitation was held on July 30 at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on July 31 at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Roseton, and was followed by entombment with military honors in Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh.
