Virginia Heepe

Cornwall

Virginia Heepe of Cornwall, passed away at home on July 17. She was 96 years old.

Virginia was born in New York City on Aug. 17, 1920 to Pasquale and Louise Tomasulo. She lived in Brooklyn for 43 years, where she married Charles Heepe and raised four children. She then settled in Seaford, N.Y. for the next 35 years before moving to Cornwall in 1999. She enjoyed living at Idlewild Creek Apartments and made many lasting friendships. She loved cooking and baking, and was known for her Italian specialties and pies.

Virginia was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son Clifford Heepe of Lindenhurst, N.Y., her son Victor Heepe and his wife Iwona of Bellmore, N.Y., her daughter Janice Dollive of Framingham, Mass., and her daughter Kathleen Coffey and her husband John of Rock Tavern, N.Y.; grandchildren Brian and Timothy Coffey, Serena, Blake and Monica Dollive, Noelle, Michelle and Phillip Heepe; nieces Nanette Domanti, Claire Mendez and Lorraine Byrnes. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Heepe and her siblings, Victor Tomasulo and Gloria Tomasulo.
Her family received visitors at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh on Thursday, July 20. A Funeral Mass was held on July 21 at St. Thomas of Canterbury in Cornwall and was followed by interment at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y

David Warren Hey

Nov. 1, 1935-July 19, 2017

David Warren Hey of Aiken, South Carolina, formally of Cornwall, New York, passed away on July 19, at home.  He was 81. He was the retired owner of Hey’s Gifts and Appliances of Cornwall.  The son of the late Warren and Edna Reiss Hey, he was born November 1, 1935, in Newburgh, New York.

David was the past president and member of The Cornwall Lions Club, The Cornwall Businessman Association (now the Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce), The Cornwall Fourth of July Committee, and The Associated Volume Buyer’s Group. He was a longtime advocate of the Main Street business district in Cornwall.

Survivors include his beloved wife Patricia, his daughter Sheri Mossuto (Ed) of San Marcos, CA, his son Jeffrey Hey of Malone, NY, his son Stephen Hey (Lauren) of Cornwall, NY, seven grandchildren, Jason, Jaclyn, Jessica, Stephen, Jr., John David, Katelyn, and Joshua, five great grandchildren, Carter, Daniel, Avery, Addison, and Ashlyn.  He was predeceased by his grandson Jeffrey G. Hey.

Services were held privately.

Francis Rucano

October 3, 1928 – July 19, 2017

formerly of Fort Montgomery

Francis P. “Frank” Rucano of Fort Montgomery and more recently Binghamton, passed away with his loved ones by his side, on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Binghamton.  He was 88.

Born in Brooklyn on October 3, 1928, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Avalino Rucano. A Korean War U.S. Army veteran from 1951-1953, he served at the Garmisch Military Post in Germany.  Frank retired after 38 years with General Motors Corporation in Tarrytown in 1990 and was a member of Sacred Heart Church of Highland Falls.

He was predeceased by his lovely wife of 49 years, Dolores “Chickie” Jusino Rucano in 2003.

He is survived by his six children: sons Michael Rucano, Robert Rucano and Gary Rucano; daughters Deborah Rucano, Lisa Ruscelli and Jean Marie Andradez. Frank will be missed by his numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, July 25 at Sacred Heart Church, 353 Main St., Highland Falls.  Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Haverstraw.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850.
