Judith A. Blaine of Cornwall passed away peacefully on July 1. She was 79.
The only child of the late John and Annamae Giebler Steffens, she was born on Sept. 9, 1937 in Manhattan.
Judith moved to Cornwall in 1952 and graduated from Cornwall High School. She retired after working as an executive secretary at Cornwall Hospital. She was also a member and past president of Highland Engine Co. Auxiliary. Judith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by many.
Survivors include: her loving husband of 62 years, Donald Blaine, Sr.; sons: Donald and his wife Susan, of Cornwall; John and his wife Gail, of Goshen; grandson David and his wife Jennifer of Long Island City; granddaughters: Victoria of Boston, Mass.; and Madison of Goshen: and twin great-grandsons, Griffin and Tatum. She is also survived by her brother and sisters-in-law, plus many loving nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 6 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home, 9 Avenue A, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 7 at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.

Richard “Rick” Douglass
January 8, 1946-July 1, 2017

Richard “Rick” Douglass, of Davenport, Fla. entered into eternal rest on July 1, at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center, Haines City, FL. He was 71.
He had a life long love of sports and westerns. He was a wonderful husband and dad, and well known and respected by his community.
The son of the late Thomas Douglass, Jr. and Allison MacMorran, Rick was born on Jan. 8, 1946 in Cornwall. He graduated from OCCC with an A.A.S. in Business Administration and a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Mercy College.
Rick was the retired Police Chief for the Cornwall-On-Hudson Police Department where he proudly served the community for over 25 years.
Rick honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era as a Military Police Officer.
He was a long time Little League Coach and supporter. He was an active member of the New York State Chiefs of Police Association. After retiring, he participated in Florida Senior Games and won several medals.
“Everyone who knew him respected him,” his family said, “and he was well liked, and he was always someone you could count on. He will be missed greatly.”
Rick is survived by his loving wife Patricia J. Douglass; his son, Brian Douglass and his wife Jennifer; his daughter, Debbie Douglass; and daughter Diane (Douglass) Muscarella and her husband Robert. He is also survived by his brother Thomas Douglass III and his wife Sally; and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 8 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson. A funeral service with Military Honors will be held at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Margaret Rose Hunter

Margaret Rose Hunter, wife of Kenneth Potter Hunter, passed away peacefully on July 1 surrounded by family at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C. Maggie was born on Sept. 2, 1939 in the borough of Manhattan to the late Thomas Cassidy and Helena Cerussi Cassidy. She was the middle daughter of the “Cassidy Girls” and she loved her sisters dearly, Claire Cassidy Cowen of West Chester, Penn. and the late Barbara Cassidy Ross.
After receiving her degree from Cabrini College, Margaret married Kenneth Potter Hunter on July 1, 1961 in New York City. Margaret and Ken raised their four children in Cornwall, before retiring to Oak Island, N.C. She leaves a legacy of love and strength to her children: Laura Hunter Dietz and husband David (Ipswich, Mass.); her son Tom Hunter (Minneapolis); her daughter Elizabeth Hunter (Durham, N.C.); and her daughter Meg Hunter Crissman and husband John (Garner, N.C.). She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jessica Dolata, Patrick Hunter, Leine Dietz, Luke Crissman and Reaghan Crissman, and three great-grandchildren: Chloe, Olive, and Willa Dolata.
A teacher to her very core; she taught so many so well. We will honor her by passing on those lessons lovingly wrapped in her sharp wit, practicality, kindness, grace, and dignity. A visitation to honor her memory will be held in the Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel in Southport, N.C. on July 15 from 2 to 4pm. Her family will receive friends at their home afterwards. Arthur T. Sullivan
March 20, 1922 – June 27, 2017

Arthur T. Sullivan passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, June 27, at his home, Promenade at Middletown in Middle-town. He was 95 years old.
Son of the late Arthur W. Sullivan and Marie Murphy Sullivan, he was born March 20, 1922 in Brooklyn.
Arthur was a licensed funeral director for 68 years and retired after 25 years as partner of William F. Hogan Funeral Home, Inc. in Highland Falls. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II, a member of Catholic War Veterans, and a member of V.F.W. Post #9256 of Highland Falls. He was the past captain and 75-year member of Defender Hose Company #1 of Rockville Centre Fire Dept. and a former member and past president (1958-1960) of Rockville Centre Lions Club.
Survivors include his loving wife, Marion E. McDougal Sullivan of Middletown; children Irene E. Rockaway and husband Alex of Coatesville, Penn., Ann L. Sullivan of Belen, N.M., Thomas P. Sullivan and wife Janet of Monroe, Jean M. Carroll and husband Tony of Coatesville, Penn., Brian P. Sullivan and wife Peggy of Montrose, Richard J. Sullivan and wife JoAnne of Highland Mills; daughter-in-law Nancy Sullivan and sister-in-law Ellen Sullivan; nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Arthur was predeceased by his son Raymond J. Sullivan, daughter Baby Mary, brother Paul Sullivan and sister Mary Fran Sullivan.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, July 3 at Sacred Heart Church, Highland Falls. Interment followed in Cemetery of the Highlands, Highland Mills.
