Cornwall-on-Hudson residents searching for something new in the 2017-18 fiscal year might take interest in the new schedule of fees adopted at the reorganization meeting Monday night.
The meeting kicked off with the swearing in of Mayor Brendan Coyne (starting his fourth term), and Trustees Mark Edsall (10th term) and David Carnright (third term). Coyne then appointed Edsall as his deputy mayor, a title he’s held for six years.
Jeanne Mahoney will return to serve another two years as village clerk/treasurer.
One year appointments of public officers included: Paula Sebesta (deputy treasurer), Mary Ellen Dennett (deputy village clerk), Ben Maggio (code enforcement officer), and Police Chief Steven Dixon.
One year appointments to positions of employment included: Mahoney (tax collector and records custodian), Dennett (deputy tax collector), Department of Public Works Superintendent David Halvorsen, Water Department Superintendent Robert June, Arlene Roberts (Planning Board secretary), Kurt Hahn (disaster control officer), Kathleen Christensen (historian), Jeff Small (Planning Board chairman), Kevin Finn (Zoning Board of Appeals chair), and Mike Ferraro (Ethics Board chair).
Other one year appointments: Mahoney (vital statistics registrar) and Dennett (deputy vital statistics registrar).
The board retained the services of attorney Joseph McKay and his firm Catania, Mahon, Milligram & Rider, PLLC. Maser Consulting, will remain the village engineer and Nugent & Haeussler was named as auditor.
Coyne reappointed Wynn Klosky and Lee Murphy to the Planning Board, Steve Fogarty to the Zoning Board of Appeals, and Anne Fulton to the Ethics Board. She will serve the final year of an unexpired term. Anthony Cashara was also reappointed to the Ethics Board. Kristen Doyle and John Ross will continue to serve as alternates to the Ethics Board.
The trustees will continue their committee assignments as follows:

Public Safety (police and fire) – Edsall and Schmidt
Insurance & Public Utilities – Carnright and James Kane
Personnel & Labor Relations – Edsall and Kane
Public Works – Carnright and Edsall
Sanitation & Recycling – Kane and Schmidt
Recreation & Summer Youth Program – Carnright and Schmidt
Grants & Economic Development – Edsall and Kane.
The work sessions will continue to be held at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month, except in October when it will be held on the first Monday. The business meetings will be conducted at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of the month, except in January (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day), February (Presidents’ Day), and March (election prep) when the meetings will be moved to the fourth Monday.
“The Cornwall Local” will continue to serve as the village’s official weekly newspaper and “The Times Herald Record” as the official daily newspaper.
The board also adopted a new fee schedule, for various building permits. The fees, which will be adopted on an annual basis during the reorganization meeting, will now be located in one spot and are in line with other municipalities.
