Linda Joan Boise, a resident of Canton, N.Y. and a former resident of Cornwall, died Feb. 23 in Ogdensburg. She was the daughter of the late Ed and Anne Boise.
The family received friends on Feb. 27 at Lawrence Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 21 Park Street, Canton. Rev. Douglas L. Luscia officiated at her funeral. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
Linda graduated from Canton Central High School in 1968, and Skidmore College in 1972. She taught in Cornwall for 23 years and coached cheerleading.
Linda was a woman of spunk and lover of life, who spoke her mind, offered encouragement for students as a teacher and a friend.
She suffered from Lupus, Systemic Lupus Erythmitosis, which took a tremendous toll on her, limiting her ability to do some of her favorite activities
Linda was an inclusive person. Her in-laws were her brothers and sisters. Her friends and family were mixed into her life like the Mike and Ike she always had on her kitchen counter. Linda found a stray dog, Lilly, who became the best friend and most loyal companion of her life. She was Linda’s savior-by her side night and day, providing Linda with unconditional love.
Her survivors are her brothers, Michael Boise of Canton, Christopher Boise of Jericho, Vermont, Stuart and Natalie Boise of Mendon, NY and her sisters, Jenifer Mathews of Ft. Collins, CO, her husband Phil, Claire Morda of NYC and FL, her husband Domenick Morda, and most significantly, Linda’s twin Pam Frank and her husband Tom. Pam is Linda’s identical twin; Pam and Tom took care of Linda for many years in many ways. They made her life one of joy and possibility.
Some charities Linda supported were Potsdam Animal Shelter, Spay Neuter in Hammond, NY, or any of the local animal shelters.
Newman D. Schwartz

Highland Falls
Newman D. Schwartz, a lifelong resident of Highland Falls passed away surrounded by loved ones at his home on Sunday, February 19, 2017. He was 89 years old.
Son of the late Aaron and Sadie Kopald Schwartz, he was born December 23, 1927 in Brooklyn. Newman was the owner of Schwartz’s Mens Shop and Sundance Gallery in Highland Falls. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II.
Survivors include his loving wife Paula Rosner Schwartz, at home, his daughter Susan C. Schwartz of Highland Falls and his son Ethan S. Schwartz of Orangeburg. Newman was predeceased by his sister Myrna Block.
A Graveside Service was held on February 27 in Congregation Son’s of Jacob Cemetery in Haverstraw.

Robert W. Ulshafer

formerly of Fort Montgomery
Robert William Ulshafer, 72, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, formerly of Oakland, N.J. and Fort Montgomery, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 11 in his wife’s arms.
Born in Brooklyn, he was raised in Fort Montgomery, the son of the late George Clayton Ulshafer and the late Ruth Anna Bell Ulshafer.
Better known as Bob, he graduated from Highland Falls High School in the class of 1962. Bob was a self-employed contractor living in Oakland, N.J., during which time he raised three wonderful children with his first wife, the late Gail Marmion Ulshafer. He took great pride during his retirement building large working model steamboats and entering contests, winning many awards for his flawless work.
Bob is survived by his wife, Cathy Marie Garthwaite Ulshafer of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; son Robert William Ulshafer, Jr., and wife Janice Pekaar Ulshafer and grandson Zachary Ulshafer, all of Fairlawn, N.J.; son George Theodore Ulshafer of Oakland, N.J.; and daughter Debra Ruth Ulshafer Hook and husband, Warren, granddaughter Alyssa Hook and grandson Cody Hook, all of Wallkill. He is also survived by his sister, RuthAnn Ulshafer Baker and husband Bruce Baker, formerly of the Town of Highlands and now Onancock, Va., niece Jennifer Baker Lupinetti, and nephews David Baker, Robert Baker and Mark Baker.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held in the summer.
