Karen A. Furman of Homosassa, Fla. (formerly of Cornwall-on-Hudson) entered into rest on Feb. 15 at home with her family by her side. The daughter of William and Adelia Champeau, she was born on March 22, 1946 in Suffern, and graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1963.
Karen and her husband Charles Robert Furman raised their children in Cornwall-on-Hudson. She enjoyed camping, traveling, and boating with her family. After she retired from the Cornwall Central School District, she and her husband moved to Homosassa, Fla. She loved the climate, spending her days exploring the nature’s coast and kayaking with her friends. She loved dancing and listening to the music of her talented friends/entertainers in Florida. She was fun loving and compassionate, and an animal advocate who sponsored a wolf in the wildlife and adopted cats from local rescue shelters. She was active in her community and a member of The Elks Club. Karen traveled to Australia to visit her daughter and family. She also visited her son and other family members in Cornwall-on- Hudson every summer.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband of 52 years, Bob Furman of Homosassa, FL, her son Bill Furman of Cornwall-on-Hudson, her daughter Susan Furman Iddon and her husband Brent, and her two grandchildren Ty and Jay Iddon, all in Australia. She is survived by her sister Shirley Pacella and her husband Michael, her cousins James Matthews (Hanna) and Dennis Jones (Nancy), her many loving nieces and nephews, and many caring friends and neighbors. Karen was predeceased by her sister, Jeanne Zippilli and brother in law Albert Zippilli. Donations in Karen’s memory may be made to: Hospice of Citrus County, 8471 W. Erin Marie Reilly
December 10, 1974 – February 16, 2017
Highland Falls
Erin Marie Reilly passed away Thursday, Feb. 16 after a brave two-year battle with cancer. She was 42.
Erin was born in Cold Spring, to her mother Jane Galu Reilly of Highland Falls and father Mark Alan Reilly of Fort Montgomery. She grew up in Fort Montgomery with her three siblings. Erin excelled at athletic pursuits and was a talented equestrian and mountain biker. She loved hiking and gardening and had recently taken up quilting. She had a special love for animals, owned a horse for over 20 years and cared for numerous stray cats around her neighborhood.
Erin graduated from Marist College in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies and from Mount Saint Mary College in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She was a registered nurse at Kingston Hospital, St. Mary’s Campus, when she was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in 2015. She was a strong-willed, determined person and fought her cancer with everything she had, using both traditional medicine and alternative treatments.
Along with her parents, Erin is survived by three siblings, Kelli Kingsbury of Denver, Col., Greg Maher and wife Lisa of Fort Montgomery, Leslie D’Onofrio and husband Kevin of Highland Falls; four nephews: Blake and Sean D’Onofrio, Derrick and Zackery Maher; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m.. on Friday, Feb. 24 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m.. on Feb. 25 at Blessed Sacrament Chapel in Fort Montgomery. Burial will be private.

Helen V. Storms

Helen V. Storms passed away Thursday, Feb. 16 surrounded by loved ones at the home of her daughter in Richmond, Va. She was 90 years old.
Helen was the widow of James L. Storms, who passed away just over three weeks ago.
Survivors include her son, James C. Storms and wife Deborrah of Highland Falls, daughter, Mary M. Storms and companion Paris Elder of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren: James L. Storms, Keith J. Storms and wife Kathleen Dodge-Storms, Donald Storms and Rainbow Storms Elder.
A Graveside Service was due to be held at 10 A.M. on Thursday, Feb. 23 in Eagle Valley Cemetery, Town of Highlands.

James L. Storms

Fort Montgomery
James L. Storms, a lifelong resident of Fort Montgomery, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22 at Campbell Hall Rehabilitation, Inc. He was 94 years old.
Son of the late John and Mary Reynolds Storms, he was born Dec. 27, 1922 in Fort Montgomery. James was a retired boiler mechanic with D.P.H.W. at West Point. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was a member of Local #754 Laborers Union of Nyack, a director of the Highland Falls Little League for many years, a member of the American Legion of Highland Falls, and a member of the V.F.W. of Highland Falls.
Survivors included his wife of 64 years, Helen Gilleo Storms, who has since passed away, on February 16. He is also survived by son, James C. Storms and wife Deborrah of Highland Falls; daughter Mary M. Storms and companion Paris Elder of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren: James L. Storms, Keith J. Storms and wife Kathleen Dodge-Storms, Donald M. Storms and Rainbow Storms Elder.
He was predeceased by his brothers John, Edward and William, and his sister Mary Ambrey.
Visitation was held on Jan. 25 at William F. Hogan Funeral Home, 135 Main St., Highland Falls. A graveside service was held January 26 in Eagle Valley Cemetery.
