Peter Michael Gavin
March 25, 1949 – January 11, 2017
Peter Michael Gavin, a longtime resident of Highland Falls, NY passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the New York State Veteran’s Home at Montrose. He was 67 years old.
Son of the late Joseph and Una Falls Gavin, he was born March 25, 1949 in New York, NY.
Peter was a retired Electrician with Pfizer of Pearl River. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, proudly serving with the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include brothers Jim Gavin of Brewster and Joseph Gavin of Bronx; sisters Dolores McDonnell and husband Dermott of Pearl River, Ann Leonard and husband John of Maywood, NJ, Margaret Gilmartin of Glen Rock, NJ; and dear friends Willy Baran and Roxanne Hall.
There will be no visitation.

Rochelle S. Grant
January 15, 1945-January 15, 2017
Rochelle S. Grant, 72, died peacefully on her birthday, Sunday, Jan. 15 at the Campbell Hall Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Reuben and Norma Grant, and was the youngest of three children.
After graduating from high school, she attended Brooklyn College. She spent her adult life courageously struggling against her lifelong mental illness. In her final years she was able to address her circumstances with resignation and humor.
Rochelle was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Dr. Martin B. Grant. She is survived by her brother, Fred Grant, of Cambridge, Mass., her sister-in-law, Joanne C. Grant, of Cornwall, and by her loving nieces and nephews, Judy, Jessica, Jennifer, David, James and Martin Andrew as well as many cousins.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. Cornwall-on-Hudson.

Andrew Perry Staples
October 24, 1950 – January 11, 2017
Perry Staples, of Cornwall passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 11 in Mamakating. He was 66 years old.
The son of John V. and Carmela Leone Staples of New Windsor, Perry was born on Oct. 24, 1950 in Newburgh.
He graduated from Cornwall Central High School in 1968, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Karen Satterly Staples, who lives in Cornwall.
Perry worked as a Journeyman wireman with I.B.E.W. Local #363 in Harriman. He loved his work and his “brothers” he met all over the country. Perry loved the outdoors and was a life member of Black Rock Fish and Game Club. Most of all, he loved his family. His favorite people called him “Papa.”
In addition to his loving wife, Karen and his parents; Perry is survived by; his son, Andrew Perry Staples, Jr. of Rome, N.Y.; his daughter, Leah Staples Roth and his daughter-in-law Rachael Miller–Staples, both of Salisbury Mills; grandchildren, Karl and Erik Roth, Madison Staples and Sara, Kaitlyn and James McDermott.; his brother, J. Peter Staples and wife Marcia of Portland, OR; his sisters, Alice Staples and husband Dan of Ashland, N.H. and Ann Staples of Fairbanks, Alaska. Perry will also be greatly missed by his father-in-law, Bill Satterly, brother-in-law Donald Satterly and wife Sharon, sister-in-law Faye Satterly and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
His family received visitors on Jan. 16 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.

Beatrice Peck Toll
Died January 11, 2017
Born and raised in beloved lower Manhattan. Bea was married to Leslie Bruce Toll in 1955 until his passing in 1990. Bea grew up during the depression which left an indelible mark upon her. Throughout life she truly appreciated everything and never had an unkind word for anyone.
Bea was a secretary and had been employed by Schrank (NYC), Montgomery Ward (NYC), Oceana Publishing company (Dobbs Ferry), the Children’s Village (Dobbs Ferry) and Walmart (in her later years because nothing could slow this woman down).
Bea simply loved life and lived by the golden rule. Bea loved her family. She is survived by her loving daughter, Melissa Toll Stoffa, son in law, Lawrence and grandsons, Michael and Jamie Stoffa, and two dogs. Her two grandsons loved her beyond measure and she was so proud of them. Bea, loving and favorite aunt to numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Bea and her family settled in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. With her husband and helped create the Dobbs Ferry Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Bea and her late husband, relocated to Cornwall-on- Hudson in 1990 to be closer to her daughter. In 22 + years in Cornwall-on-Hudson, Bea made many new and forever friends. She was an avid movie, music and film buff. Bea was a historian in her own right. Bea loved animals, people, and nature. Bea was a kind, sweet wonderful person who will be missed.
Bea relocated to Florida 2 ½ years ago with her daughter’s family. It is there that she lived out the rest of her wonderful life….happy and carefree.
A private cremation service will be held in Florida and a celebration of Bea’s life will be held in Dobbs Ferry in the springtime.
