Robert E. Gayton Sr.

Robert E. Gayton, Sr., of Mountainville entered into eternal rest on Jan. 4 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 79.
The son of the late Edward L. and Mildred Schreibeis Gayton, Bob was born on Oct. 10, 1937 in Cornwall.
He was the President of Mountainville Lawn & Yard, Inc. and the former owner- operator of Robert Gayton & Son, Inc., dairy distributor. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Intrepid.
Bob was an active member and trustee of Mountainville United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Mountainville Fire Co., a past member of the Cornwall Yacht Club and also a lifetime member of Black Rock Fish and Game Club.
“Gator worked hard; hard work, good food, a cold drink and good friends” made him happiest, and now he is surrounded by some of his best friends and laughing with his beloved daughter, Jodi.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Jodi Lynn LaSala and his sister, Stephanie Sherman. Surviving are his loving wife, Sandra J. Gayton; his son, Robert E. Gayton, Jr.; the mother of his children, Barbara Williams; his son-in-law Thomas LaSala and wife Nikki; his stepson Stephen Sutherland and wife Jennifer; his stepdaughter Kelly McKiernan and husband Bernard; his grandchildren, Taylor and Sidney LaSala, Bryan Gayton, Stephen and Madison McKiernan and Kaitlyn and Tyler Sutherland; his brothers, David, Stephen, Richard and Edward Gayton; his sisters, Constance White, Gwendolyn Reichenberger, Audrey Armandarez, Melanie Hartman and Teresa Gayton. And best four-legged friends Misty and Bob Cat.
Visitors called on Jan. 8 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A funeral service was held on Jan. 9 at the Highland Mills United Methodist Church, with Rev. Darlene E.R. Resling officiating. Cremation was at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

Elaine M. Sweeney
April 1, 1937-January 4, 2017
Elaine M. Sweeney, of New Windsor entered into eternal rest on Jan. 4 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. She was 79 years old.
The daughter of the late Thomas and Veronica O’Neill Coyle, Elaine was born on April 1, 1937 in Manhattan.
She was a former employee of New Windsor Country Inn and a parishioner of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church and Sacred Heart Church.
Elaine was a devoted wife and mother. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Charles C. Sweeney, Sr. Elaine is survived by her sons, Chris (Tricia), Dan (Dina) and Brian (Lisa) Sweeney; her daughter, Veronica (Greg) Beauvais; nine grandchildren, Danielle, Chris, Sean, Emma, Nick, Gabby, Molly, Katie and Maggie; a brother, William Coyle; a sister, Helen Gleason; and many Gleason and Coyle Family nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Elaine was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kayla Marie and her brother, Richard Coyle.
Her family received visitors on Jan. 9 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 10 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson and was followed by interment at St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.
