Steven (Stevie) Patrick Pacenza Griggs

July 21, 1964-December 14, 2016

Steven (Stevie) Patrick Pacenza Griggs, 52, entered into rest at Florida Hospital Celebration in Celebration, Florida on Dec. 14.  He was born in Cornwall to Patrick A Pacenza Jr. of Cornwall and Patricia Rhodes Griggs of Marlboro, and was baptized at St. Mary’s in Newburgh.

Stevie was the chef and owner of Vinelli’s Catering in Lake Mary, Fla. recently selling the business to pursue a degree in counseling which he was doing at the time of his death.

Stevie was a very active member of the Lake Mary Rotary Club, where he will be greatly missed.  Stevie is survived by his father, Patrick Pacenza Jr, mother, Patricia Rhodes Griggs, step-mother Sharen Pacenza, step-father, Gary Griggs, his brother Patrick A Pacenza III (April) and their children; brother Christopher Griggs (Kimberly) and their children; sister Dana Bolduc and her son; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is also survived by the love of his life Theresa Palmisano and her children Katie and Billy.  Stevie was predeceased by his grandparents, Patrick A Pacenza, Sr.; Peg Pacenza, Clayton and Helen Rhodes, and Vera and Frank Griggs.

Stevie was cremated and a memorial service was held on Dec. 30 at the Engel Funeral Home Inc. in Newburgh. A memorial service will also be held in Lake Mary, Fla.  Stevie’s remains will be buried in Florida.

Dorothy Kane

November 16, 1925-December 28, 2016

Dorothy Kane, age 91, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, passed into the arms of the Lord on Dec. 28 after a short illness.

The daughter of the late Leo A. and Anna Miller Fanning, Dotty was born on Nov. 16, 1925 in Newburgh.

Dorothy graduated from St. Thomas Elementary, Cornwall-on-Hudson High School and the Spencerian Business Institute.  She worked in the Cornwall Press business office, the St. Thomas School office and in a local school cafeteria.

Mom loved to dance, especially with her grandchildren.  She always loved a good laugh, a good book and a good cup of  tea while chatting with family and friends. The loves of her life were her family.  She was always there when needed, and never turned a deaf ear to anyone in need.

“Mom – we love you and will miss you until we meet again.”

Survivors include her daughters and their spouses; Mary L. and Donald Conklin of Maine, N.Y.; Kathleen and William Decker of Endwell; Roberta and Dave Wieboldt of Greenville; grandchildren: Jacqueline and Mark Szczepanski, Donald C. and Terri Conklin, David R. and Christina Conklin, Michael Conklin, Henry E. and Patty VanHouten, Danielle VanHouten, Theresa Dyseven, Monica Decker, Elizabeth and Matt Mateer, Rachael and Dave Losee: twenty great-grandchildren: and many nieces, nephews,  and cousins.  She was predeceased by her husband Leroy, her brother Rev. Leo M. Fanning, her sister Kathleen R. Fanning, her grandson John D. Conklin, and her great grandson Henry VanHouten.

Her family received visitors on Jan. 5 at James F. Lulves Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Interment will be in Calvary-St. Patrick Cemetery in Johnson City.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to a local animal shelter, or to a charity of one’s choice.

Charles ‘Skip’ Zint

July 20, 1932- December 1, 2016

Charles Zint, a resident of Phoenix, Ariz. passed away on December 1, 2016.

Skip was born in Cornwall on July 20, 1932. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grade School and Highland Falls High School, Class of 1950. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving a tour in Korea and various bases in the U.S. for four years. After leaving the Air Force his time was mainly spent in the southwest, but he never forgot his roots in the Highland Falls area. He was active in starting and organizing the HF-WP Far West reunions held in the Phoenix area. His knowledge of the Highland Falls area was enormous.

He was a charter member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus of Phoenix.

He is survived by his children Michael, Patricia, Robert and James; grandchildren Conner, Aaron, Sam and Hanna; brothers Bob of Albuquerque, NM, Richard of Carrolton, Texas, George of crystal River, Fla. and Daniel of Highland Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Zint, his parents Charles and Mary Zint, sister Gretchen Williams and brother Alan Zint.

Cremation has taken place and he was interred in the VA National Cemetery of Phoenix with full military honors.
