Robert (Bob) Warren Chatfield

Robert (Bob) Warren Chatfield of Lecanto, Fla. died on Dec. 13. A former Cornwall resident, he was 89 years old.
The son of the late Russell A. and Louisa Kane Chatfield, he was born in Cornwall-on-Hudson on Sept. 11, 1927. He was retired after working as a barber at the United States Military Academy and serving in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1949.
He was predeceased by his wife Lucille Chatfield, his parents and his sister Katherine M. Chatfield Skinner.
Survivors include his sons, James and Russell; his brothers Alfred Chatfield of Cornwall-on-Hudson and Charles Chatfield of Sudbury, Vt. and Brandenton, Fla.; his sister Jean Hach of Cornwall and numerous nephews and nieces.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial gifts may be made to The Center for Discovery, POB 840, Harris, NY 12742.
Margaret T. Kelly
June 7, 1935-December 15, 2016
Margaret T. Kelly of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Dec. 15 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. She was 81.
The daughter of the late Edward and Mary Dougherty Doocey, Margaret was born on June 7, 1935 in County Mayo, Ireland.
A family statement reads: “The lady with the biggest heart and smile, who never missed a game of “25,” a devoted Christian woman, she loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her”.
Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph P. Kelly. She is survived by her sons, Joseph and Sean Kelly; her daughters, Maureen and her husband Mark Edsall, Joanne and her husband Bob Conley, Margaret and her husband Steve Lynch, and Patricia and her husband Tom Whalen; her sister, Nancy McGuire of Ireland; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her family received visitors on Dec. 18 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 19 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson.

Ellyn Diedre Mulrenin
July 3, 1949-December 12, 2016
Ellyn Diedre Mulrenin, a longtime resident of northern Virginia, died suddenly on Dec. 12, at her home in Falls Church, VA. She was 67.
Ellyn was born on July 3, 1949, in Cornwall to the late Edward F. and Lillian C. Mulrenin. She is survived by her loving siblings, Maureen Pallazza, Kathleen Downs, Edward Mulrenin, and Paul Mulrenin, in-laws and nephews and grand nieces.
She grew up in Cornwall-on-Hudson; graduated from Mt. Saint Mary’s College in Newburgh, and retired from the U.S. Government in 2014 after a long career, first with the Internal Revenue Service, and then as an auditor for the Department of Navy in Washington, D.C.
Ellyn lived a full life and had many interests, including traveling, tutoring children, chess, and genealogy, and was an avid reader. She also derived much joy over the years from her family’s companion dogs. She had a special talent in talking to unknown strangers and becoming fast friends with them. Most of all, Ellyn’s uniqueness was her ready sense of humor and her unbounded generosity.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Murphy Funeral Home in Falls Church. A Mass of Christian Burial for Ellyn was celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, in Falls Church, on Dec. 16.
Interment will be in St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall, at a date to be determined. The family requests that friends contribute in Ellyn’s memory to St. Anthony’s “to help the poor” or to a charity of their choice.
