Johann “Hans” Ganz

August 30, 1922-November 23, 2016

Johann “Hans” Ganz passed away on Nov. 23 at his home in Cornwall.  He was 94 years old.

The son of the late Johann and Elisabeth Laches Ganz, he was born Aug. 30, 1922 in Engelsbrunn, Romania.  Hans was a Tool and Die Maker with Star Expansion, in Mountainville.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Pfandl Ganz of Cornwall; his son Hans Peter Ganz and his wife Karen of New Windsor; his daughter Elisabeth Geckle and her husband Robert of New Fairfield, Conn., his daughter Astrid Ganz of Chino Valley, Ariz.; his grandchildren: Karl, Rhiannon, Krystal, Erich, Aidan, Melissa, Michael and Lukas; his great grandchildren: Jaiden and Raymond; and his nieces and nephews.  Hans was predeceased by his brother Josef Ganz.

His family will receive vistors from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home, 515 Route 32 in Highland Mills.  A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. on Monday in Cemetery of The Highlands, Highland Mills, NY.  Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory, Middle Hope, NY.
