Francis W. Indzonka

December 14, 1926-October 8, 2016

Francis W. Indzonka, of Walden entered into eternal rest on Oct. 8 at The New York State Veterans Home in Montrose. He was 89.

The son of Louis Indzonka and Katherine McCloskey Indzonka, he was born on Dec. 14, 1926 in Newburgh.

After graduating from Newburgh Free Academy in 1944, he received an appointment as a second alternate to the United States Military Academy. While attending the Braden School in Cornwall, he was drafted and commissioned as a second lieutenant after graduating from Officer Candidate School. He participated in the occupation of Japan.

Following his honorable discharge, he attended Gettysburg College and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1954.  He maintained an active practice in Newburgh until May 2016.

He was a member of the New York State Dental Society, the Catholic War Veterans and the Newburgh Yacht Club.  He served as a past president of the Newburgh Jaycees.  He enjoyed sailing, skiing and Army football.

“He will be missed greatly,” his family said.

Francis was predeceased by his loving wife, Svea L. Erikson Indzonka.  He is survived by his sons, Dr. Peter F. Indzonka, his wife Christine and their son Kevin of Albany, Dr. Mark F. Indzonka, his wife Laura and their children, Jack, Joseph, Larissa, Benjamin and Linnea of Stroudsburg, Penn., Erik F. Indzonka, Esq., his wife Michele and their sons Douglas and Andrew of New Windsor; and his sister, Susanne Laurion and her husband Tristan of Cornwall.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Friday, Oct. 14 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 145 Benkard Avenue, Newburgh, and will be followed by interment with military honors at St. Francis Cemetery, New Windsor.

Paul A. Moccio

November 28, 1950-October 6, 2016

Paul A. Moccio, of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Oct. 6 at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 65.

The son of the late Anthony Moccio and the late Jeanne Moccio Bednarczyk, Paul was born on Nov. 28, 1950 in Mount Vernon,

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Manhattan College and his Master’s degree in Marine Biology from Long Island University at C.W. Post. Paul was an Ichthyologist and a Laboratory Supervisor. He was retired after working for over 40 years for an environmental engineering firm in Rockland County.

He was an active member of the American Fisheries Society and other conservation groups. Paul had several scientific papers published, two of which he presented at the American Fisheries Society conferences, in Seattle and Pittsburgh. Paul was a member of the Beta Sigma Fraternity.

Paul was an environmentalist, educator, and humanitarian. He was kind, intelligent, and funny. Everyone who knew him loved him. Paul was a great family man and great friend. He would always be willing to help anyone who was in need. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Dodgers, the Rangers, and the Browns. He loved the Olympics, both summer and winter. Paul also liked to collect sports memorabilia.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Susan Brandau Moccio, at home; his son, Philip A. Moccio of Jersey City; his daughter, Lauren E. Moccio, at home; his brother, John Moccio; and his sister, Carol Krass (Charles) both of Florida; his nieces Colette D’Antona-Consolazio (Samuel) of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; Colleen Cordaro (Jeremy) of Toms River, N.J.; and nephew Thomas Krass (Mariah) of Magnolia, Del.; his great-nephew Benjamin Consolazio; and many cousins and friends.

Jean M. Tubbs

January 2, 1946-October 9, 2016

Jean M. Tubbs of New Windsor, an area resident for 53 years passed away on Sunday Oct. 9 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. Jean was 70.

The daughter of the late George and Margaret Hager Becker, she was born on Jan. 2, 1946 in Cornwall.

Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was very kind hearted. Jean was very proud and loving to her two dogs, Lula and Captain Jack. She is survived by her husband William Tubbs at home, her daughter Penny Pritt of Florida and grandson Nick Repko of Florida. Two brothers George and Jimmie Becker, one sister Georgette Vanhassel, and several nieces and nephews.

Her family was due to receive visitors on Thursday Oct. 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc. 239 Quassaick Avenue (Rte94) New Windsor. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m., on Friday Oct. 14, at the funeral home, burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in New Windsor.
