Nancy T. Duffy

June 29, 1931-Sept. 28, 2016

Nancy T. Duffy, 85, of Cornwall, and formerly South Carolina, New Rochelle, and Illinois, died on Sept. 28 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.

Nancy was born on June 29, 1931 in Joplin, Mo.. to the late Harold and Corrinne (Burress) Thiell. She grew up in Chicago and after high school graduated from the Henrotin School of Nursing. In 1957 she married her best friend, William C. Duffy. Bill and Nancy later moved to New York in 1962. In the 1970s she resumed her nursing career and later continued her education and became a Pediatric Nurse Practicioner, retiring in 1985.

Nancy was involved in the P.T.A. and the Girl Scouts. In retirement, she learned to play golf, enjoyed boating, and was a member of the Chickasaw Point Women’s Club (SC). She loved acting and became an integral part of many plays and musicals in South Carolina for over 23 years. When Nancy and Bill returned to New York in 2007, she joined local troupes in Orange County, including the “Hotsie Totsies.”

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Meg Cusumano (Guy) of Maybrook; her son, Jim Duffy (Adrienne) of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Kate Janeczko, Eileen Kemp (Chris), Jessica & Matthew Duffy; her great-grandson, Everett; and several nieces & nephews.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents; her husband Bill in 2011; her sister and brother-in-law Mary Alice and Jim Jackson; and brother & sister-in-law Bud and Betty Thiell.

Services were under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill.  Interment was at Orange County Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.

Seth Stuart Parent

A celebration of the life of Seth Stuart Parent, 41, who passed away suddenly on Aug. 4 while on vacation with his family in Vermont, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 468 Broadway in Newburgh. Seth was a lifelong resident of the Cornwall/New Windsor area and a 24-year member of Storm King Engine Co. No. 2 in Cornwall-on-Hudson. All are welcome to attend.
