Donna Elizabeth Bayer

Donna Elizabeth Bayer, 67, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away on Sept. 2. She was born in Newburgh on May 12, 1949, to the late Felicia (Lupo) and James McTamaney. Donna graduated from Thevenet Hall in 1967. She worked at NY Telephone Company for 29 years.
Donna was a beloved member of the communities where she lived, both Cornwall, N.Y. and Round Rock, Texas. When moving to Texas in 1994, she became an active member in St. Williams’s parish, where she was an integral part of the pastoral outreach to women for the ProLife Office of Diocese of Austin. She coordinated, and served on, the 24 hour hotline Gabriel Project and Project Rachel assisting over 2,000 women annually. She was also instrumental in the strategic planning, development, and implementation of the Gabriel Project Life Center.
Donna is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Thomas William Bayer of Round Rock. She is also survived by her three children; Sean (Amanda) Bayer, of Leander, Texas; Erin (Brian) DeRosa, of Cedar Park, Texas; and Meghan (Jason) Johnson, of Cedar Park, Texas. She is beloved Nana to 10 Grandchildren; Elisabeth Johnson, Jayden Johnson, Alaya Johnson, Josslyn Johnson, Olivia DeRosa, Hudson Johnson, Gabriella DeRosa, Sophie DeRosa, Emma Johnson, and Adelyn Johnson. She is a loved sister to Marie (McTamaney) Hayes, James McTamaney Jr., and Thomas McTamaney.
Her family received visitors on Thursday, Sept. 8 at Beck Funeral Home in Austin. A Funeral Mass was held on Friday, Sept. 9, at St. William Catholic Church, Round Rock, and was followed by interment at Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery, Georgetown, TX.

Patricia “Pat” Corby
November 1, 1928-September 11, 2016
Patricia “Pat” Corby (87), of Cornwall, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 11 at Elant at Meadow Hill in Newburgh, with her family by her side.
The daughter of the late Irving and Ida Mae Ferguson, Pat was born on Nov. 1, 1928 in New York City.
She received her associate’s degree at Julliard School of Music, where she perfected her craft as a pianist. She received a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Empire State College, followed by a master’s degree at Herbert Lehman College.
Pat worked as a special education teacher at the Rockland Children’s Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg until 1994, and then gave piano lessons in Cornwall. She belonged to The American College of Musicians and the local chapter of Orange County Musicians.
“Pat was a dedicated musician and teacher,” her family said, “who worked with many children and adults in the Cornwall area. Many of her students became successful musicians. She loved animals, and people, and lived her life to the fullest. She will be missed greatly by her family, friends, and students.”
Pat is survived by her loving husband, Robert W. Corby, at home; her son, Robert C. Corby of Rochester; her daughters, Jennifer C. Mavrorasakis of Garnerville, and Paula V. Conroy of Haverstraw; her former husband and good friend, James Conroy, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren — plus her very close friends: Virginia Borghesan, Mary Devine, and Frank Reynolds who helped her through her very difficult illness.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 15 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 16 at the funeral home, and will be followed by interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Mountainville.

Francis “Frank” J. Slattery
October 4, 1931-September 4, 2016
Francis “Frank” J. Slattery, of New Windsor entered into eternal rest on Sept. 4 at the VA Medical Center in Manhattan. He was 84 years old.
The son of the late John and Lillian Slattery, he was born on Oct. 4, 1931 in Brooklyn.
Frank was a retired newspaper printer with the Peekskill Evening Star in Peekskill. He honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Frank is survived by his brother, John Slattery of Nokomis, Fla.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Sept. 8 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-in-Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Sept. 9 at The Church of St. Patrick and St. Mary in Newburgh. Burial with full Military Honors followed the Mass at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.
Barbara C. VanVlack
February 9, 1943-September 9, 2016
Barbara C. VanVlack of Cornwall entered into rest on Friday, Sept. 9. She was 73.
The daughter of the late Wilt and Catherine Craig Parkton, she was born on Feb. 9, 1943 in Poughkeepsie.
Barbara was a 1961 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. She worked in Dunkin Donuts in Cornwall for the past 17 years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend and she will be deeply missed.
Survivors include: her daughter, Kathleen VanVlack, at home; two grandsons; a niece, several nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Ellsworth J. VanVlack.
A Memorial Service for Barbara will be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the Hudson Valley SPCA, P.O. Box 356, Vails Gate, NY 12584.
