Quilt on display in Town Hall

The quilt will be on display in the Town Hall conference room.

The Town Hall conference room is getting a quilt with an impressive history.

The tapestry, which dates back to the 1980s, was the handiwork of the Quilters of the Hudson Highlands — a group that meets in Cornwall.

Gov. Mario Cuomo featured the quilt in his Christmas cards one year, and used it as part of the “I Love New York” campaign to attract tourists.

The quilters presented their handiwork to the Town Board at last night’s meeting, explaining that the quilt had been a closet for a long time, and they would like people to see it.

The public will soon have a chance, as the quilt will be displayed in the conference room along with an explanation of what each square represents.
