TUNES FOR TAYLOR

Middle school teacher John Taylor is home from Afghanistan for almost a year, but Cornwall students are still collecting “Tunes for Taylor.”

Last fall, the middle schoolers sent iTune gift cards to Mr. Taylor and the other members of his unit. The soldiers were so grateful that the kids decided to do it again — even though Mr. Taylor is back at his old job.

POLAR EXPRESS

Knights of Columbus Council 7460 is hosting a special showing of “The Polar Express” on Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in St. Thomas of Canterbury School.

“Wear your comfy pajamas,” the Knights say. “Bring a cozy blanket and your favorite stuffed animal.” Pop corn, hot cocoa and a special gift are part of the price of admission. (Adults are admitted free.)

Greg Rocco, an officer of Council 7460, worked as the assistant property manager for the movie. He will be bringing props from the film, along with a director’s chair, photos and scripts. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Dropoffs are not allowed.

POOCHAPALOOZA

The 5th Annual Poochapalooza will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 11 a.m. at Gym Kids (2430 Route 32).

To date Gym Kids has received $2,778 in donations. All donations and the entry fees of the gymnasts will benefit several animal shelters.

Gym Kids has more than 50 children attending the Blanket of Love visit to the HVSPCA after the competition to give a homeless dog a blanket. Anyone can drop off new or used blankets at the Gym Kids lobby prior to the event.
