The Town Board is close to an agreement on its budget for the next fiscal year. After an Oct. 26 workshop, there were three issues to be addressed — the salary for the receiver of taxes, the allowance for a grant writer, and a vehicle for the Police Department.
The proposed budget is under the cap. It calls for a one percent decrease in the levy (the total amount raised by taxes) and a one percent bump in the tax rate (what property owners will pay).
At the Oct. 26 meeting, Supervisor Randy Clark said that, if the budget is approved, the taxes on a home assessed at $300,000 would go up by $18 a year.
