Joan (Costella) Sullivan

Joan (Costella) Sullivan of Mountainville entered into eternal rest on May 21 at home surrounded by her children. She was 62 years old.
The daughter of the late Raymond and Louise Beccarelli Costella, Joan was born on Dec. 11, 1952 in Astoria, N.Y. She was married to the late Thomas E. Sullivan.
Joan graduated from Cornwall Central High School, in 1970. She was employed by Finklestein & Partners in Newburgh for nearly 45 years, where she was currently Supervisor of the Closing Department.
She was a member of St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
Joan is survived by her children Justin Sullivan and his wife Sandra of Northport, Fla.; Angela Kessler of Cornwall-on-Hudson and Michael J. Sullivan and his companion Maeve Bace of Brooklyn; by a granddaughter Sadie Rayne Kessler, “Grandma’s favorite little girl”; by her brother Peter Costella of Hartford, Conn.; by her son-in-law Kurt Kessler of Newburgh; brothers-in-law Richard Sullivan and his wife Tomoko of Ewa Beach, Hawaii and William “Mike” Sullivan of Costa Rica. Also many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her infant son Jason T. Sullivan.
Her family received visitors on Tuesday, May 26 at Brooks Funeral Home in Newburgh. A Mass was held on Wednesday, May 27 in St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson, with burial following in St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall.
