Herman Robert Bloomberg Sr.

September 10, 1923-January 25, 2015

Herman Robert Bloomberg Sr. of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Jan. 25 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 91.

The son of Herman Bloomberg and Georgia Curry Bloomberg, Herman was born on Sept. 10, 1923 in the Bronx. He honorably and proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army from 1943-46.

He is survived by his sons Robert Bloomberg and his wife Linda of New Windsor; Herman Bloomberg and wife Tracey of Brenham, Texas; and daughter Georgia Howard and husband Robert of Cornwall; by his grandchildren: Lisa Tufano and husband Alfred, Allyson, Ryan and Jacob Bloomberg, also a great grandchild Hannah Rose Tufano.

He was predeceased by his wife Dolores Nixon Bloomberg.

There will be no public visitation at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, 337 Hudson St. in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  There will be a private funeral service.

John D. Dragonetti

August 13, 1963-January 28, 2015

John D. Dragonetti of Mountainville entered into eternal rest on Jan. 28 at home.

The son of Ralph E. Dragonetti Sr. and Dolores Pagliaocca Dragonetti, John  was born on Aug. 13, 1963 in Cornwall. He  was a plumber  for the Plumbers & Steamfitters Union  Local 373 in Mountainville.

John D. Dragonetti   is survived by his father Ralph E. Dragonetti Sr. of Mountainville, his brothers Ralph E. Dragonetti Jr. and his wife Pamela of Salisbury Mills  and  Robert D. Dragonetti and his wife Linda of Averill Park, N.Y., and by his niece Alexa Dragonetti. He was predeceased by his mother Dolores Pagliaocca Dragonetti in February 2010.

His family received visitors on Feb. 3 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson. A  funeral service was held on Feb. 4 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, and was followed by burial in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Mountainville.

Paul W. Sebesta Jr.

February 2, 1933-January 29, 2015

On Jan. 29, Paul W Sebesta, Jr of Cornwall entered into eternal life at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh. He was 81.

The son of the late Paul P. and Mary (Danko) Sebesta, Paul was born on Feb.   2, 1933 in Newburgh. He was employed by Bearse Mfg.; and by Cornwall Central Schools and the Town of Cornwall as a crossing guard.

Paul served in the U.S.  Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a long time member of Highland Engine Co #1 and the oldest, longest serving acolyte of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Paul will be remembered as the “the Mayor of Willow and Main”

His family will forever miss their “Pop,” but shall cherish the memories of family vacations. Paul was a loving, devoted and proud husband, father and grandfather.

Paul is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years Margaret “Peggy” Conley Sebesta; by his daughters: Patricia Bates (Kenny) of New Windsor; Carmen Jimenez (Bobby) of Sanford, Fla.; Paula Sebesta of Cornwall; and Kristen Sebesta-Boyle (Jack) of Cornwall-on-Hudson; by his sons: James Sebesta (Karin) of Cornwall and Paul G Sebesta (Linda) of  Deltona, Fla.; by his grandchildren: Raymond and Tyler Sebesta; Eddie, Lesia and Robert Jimenez; Jennifer and Sean Boyle; Paul and Joey Sebesta; Brian, Kenny and Cobey Bates,   and his grandpuppy Liberty as well as 13 great grandchildren; by his sister Louise Post and his  brothers: Ignatious, William, Harold, Michael and Joey Sebesta. Paul also has many nieces and nephews.

Paul is predeceased by his sister Pauline Angelone and brother Francis Sebesta.

His family received visitors  on Feb. 4 at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson.  A Mass of Christian Burial with Military honors was held on Feb. 5 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with Rev. Suzanne Toro officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Church or Grace Community Church, Deacon Fund.

Theresa L. “Tess” Torrisi

January 16, 1919-January 29, 2015

Theresa L. “Tess” Torrisi of entered into rest at  her home in Rockport, Mass. on Jan. 29 with her daughter Laurie at her side. Tess had just celebrated her 96th birthday.

The daughter of Palmira and Luigi Lisella, Tess was born on January 16, 1919 in Mount Vernon, N.Y.

She completed her Professional Secretarial  Certificate and worked as a legal secretary for a prominent law firm in Mount Vernon, before  leaving the workplace to raise a family.

Her family said, “Our world-class mother provided us with undying love and loyalty. Always ahead of her time, she possessed a zest for the world of finances and mathematics, fashion, the arts, and homemaking. We continue to strive to measure up to her exquisite culinary talents. She enjoyed a long and wonderful marriage with our father with whom she is now reunited and at peace. She will be missed greatly.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Angelo F. Torrisi, Ph.D, and a granddaughter, Michele Torrisi.

Tess is survived by her three children, Laurie Crotty and her husband Philip (former residents of Cornwall).; Dr. Paul Torrisi, and his wife, Mary of Skaneateles, N.Y.; and Professor Robert Torrisi and his wife Francine of Baldwinsville, N.Y. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christine Sherwood and her husband Robert; Laura DiMichele and her husband Andrew; Paul Torrisi, Jr. and his wife Meredith; Julia Torrisi; Jason Torrisi and his wife Jennifer; and Jeremy Torrisi and his wife Neysa. Additionally Tess leaves behind her great grandchildren, Jack, Ellie, Kevin, and Tess Torrisi; Isabella Torrisi; and Jake and Joah Torrisi.

Her family received visitors at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson on Feb. 3, and then attended a Mass of Christian Burial  at St. Thomas of Canterbury Roman Catholic Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson.

Mary A. Visconti

January 27, 2015

Mary A. Visconti of Cornwall entered into eternal rest on Jan. 27. She was 90 years old.

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, we will miss her spirit, laughter and love. She joins her husband, Joseph, parents, Nicola and Anna, and ten brothers and sisters in heaven.

Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Diana Visconti, two granddaughters Jennifer and Stephanie, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her daughter and son-in-law Louisa and Ken Wanless; and her daughter and son-in-law Anne Marie and Joseph Alleva, three grandchildren, Joseph, Jeffrey and Jennifer, and one great-grandchild.

Private funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church.
