Philip R. Faurot

Philip R. Faurot of Cornwall-on-Hudson and Washington, D.C. entered into rest on Wednesday, Dec. 24 at his home in Washington, D.C. He was 85 years old.
The son of the late Philip Torrey and Ruth Voelkle Faurot, he was born on Jan. 29, 1929 in New York City.
Phil was an avid lover of nature and truly enjoyed bird watching.
He is survived by an aunt and several cousins. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends in both Cornwall and Washington, D.C.
At Phil’s request, there will be no services. Interment will be in Willow Dell Cemetery, Cornwall-on-Hudson.
John W. Peter Gibbons
March 31, 1929-January 5, 2015
John W. Peter Gibbons, long-time resident of Cornwall, peacefully passed away on Jan. 5 in Rhinebeck. He was 85.
The son of Joseph Butler Gibbons and Anna Loretta Neary, John was born on March 31, 1929 in Brooklyn.
After high school, John earned his degree in aviation engineering and received his pilot’s license from the Academy of Aeronautics at Laguardia Field in New York. John became an environmental engineer, designing and implementing large scale systems to reduce environmental pollution for large factories and landfills. He was a senior engineer for the Wehren Engineering Company for decades.
John proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. As a Sergeant, John was a Counter Intelligence Agent and was honorably discharged on March 6, 1953.
John was predeceased by his wife (and dance partner) of 47 years – Charlotte “Lottie” Meers Gibbons. He was also predeceased by his two beloved older brothers Joseph and Donald.
John is survived by his daughter Liz and her husband George Krause of Narrowsburg;, his daughter Cathy and her husband Sean Burke of Red Hook; and his son John and his partner Michael Fragale of Washington, D.C. John is also survived by his grandchildren Jessie Krause Sabbagh and her husband Joe, Samie Krause, Sean Christopher Burke, and Charlotte Burke. John was expecting his first great-grandchild in March.
John will be remembered, per his wishes, in a small private viewing for his immediate family at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, in Cornwall-on-Hudson N.Y. and laid to rest alongside his wife in the St. Thomas Cemetery in Cornwall.
His family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to the Hudson Valley SPCA, 940 Little Britain Rd, New Windsor, N.Y. 12553.
Ruth M. O’Shea
July 10, 1927-December 31, 2014
Ruth M. O’Shea, of Cornwall, entered into eternal rest on Dec. 31 at home, surrounded by her entire family. She was 87.
The daughter of George Lang and Margaret Conway, she was born on July 10, 1927 in Brooklyn N.Y. She was an active member of St. Thomas of Canterbury church. Her family said that she will be missed greatly as the Matriarch of the family
Ruth M. O’Shea is survived by her children: Thomas O’Shea and his wife Liza of New Windsor, Richard O’Shea of Middletown, Michael O’Shea of Chester, Daniel O’Shea and his wife Lyda of Bloomingburg, David O’Shea and Barbara O’Shea of Cornwall, and her grandchildren: Matthew O’Shea, Sara O’Shea, Chelsea Baldino O’Shea, Mariah O’Shea, Jake & Leah O’Shea. She was predeceased by her husband Mortimer O’Shea on Dec. 17, 1979.
Her family received visitors at Quigley Bros. Funeral Home in Cornwall-on-Hudson on Jan. 4. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 5 at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church in Cornwall-on-Hudson with Fr. Andrew Kurzyna officiating. The mass was followed by burial in Calverton National Cemetery in Long Island.
