Sands Ring Homestead film & quiz

The Homestead
The Homestead looks much better when seen from the rear of the property.

Monday was movie night for the Cornwall Historical Society. The members watched a film about the Town’s oldest building, the Sands Ring Homestead.

Eileen Tulloch had produced the film in the 1980s along with Jane Sweeney and Jerri Turnbull. At the time, Mrs. Tulloch was a fourth-grade teacher and the liaison between the Homestead and the school district.

“Children loved the Homestead,” she recalled, “but they had no idea of what it was about.” She was going to write a book for the students, but her husband (Ron Tulloch) dissuaded her. “Kids like to see things,” he said, “rather than read them.”

So with the help of the Cornwall Community Theatre, and several other local people, she produced a film that explains the Homestead’s history.

The Historical Society showed the film on Sept. 29 to an audience of 30 people.
