Marjorie VanDerKar Hulihan
April 17, 1921-August 8, 2014
Marjorie VanDerKar Hulihan, a self-made woman of great style and spirit, artist, mother of eight and widow of Dr. Robert A. Hulihan, died in her sleep at home with family at her side on Aug. 8, 2014. She was 93.
The daughter of Margaret (Dwyer) and Arthur Milton VanDerKlar, Marjorie was born April 17, 1921 in Pittsfield, Mass. Soon, the family resettled back in Hoosick Falls, N.Y.
A popular and studious high school student, Marjorie was active in the arts club. At age 14, she met her future husband, Robert, by asking him to try out for a play; he refused, but he became sweet on her. She was a cheerleader, a basketball player, and the valedictorian for the Hoosick Falls High School Class of 1938.
She attended Mary Washington University as a physical education major, but had to leave when a family member stole money that was intended for Marjorie’s education.
She married her high school sweetheart in July 1943 while he was serving in the U.S. Marine Corp. as a WWII decorated fighter pilot. She was his anchor as he went to medical school at Tufts University in Boston and was then stationed in Barber’s Point Hawaii during the Korean War. He predeceased her December 23, 2007.
In 1954, the couple moved to Newburgh, where Dr. Hulihan established his medical practice. Marjorie was active in the Auxiliary to the Medical Society of Orange County and raising her children (who attended Cornwall schools).
She is survived by her children, Deborah M. Hulihan, Lincoln, Mass., Maile Hulihan, Sudbury, Mass., Timothy Hulihan, Oakland, Calif. and Midge Hulihan-Meade, Sandy, Ore. and eleven grandchildren. Her children Barbara (Alan) Zeiber, Robin Hulihan, Robert A (Carol) Hulihan, Jr., and Thomas Hulihan predeceased her.
She was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.
Brian K. Jaeger

Brian K. Jaeger, of Newburgh entered into eternal rest on Sept. 6 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 54 years old.
The son of John and Janis Jaeger , Brian was born on Sept 2, 1960 in Cornwall. He was a landscaper for George Kent Landscaping. He will be missed greatly by his family and many friends .
Brian K. Jaeger is survived by his mother Janis Jaeger of Cornwall; his brother Michael Jaeger and wife Carla of Newburgh; his aunts and uncles Catherine Witherel and Preston of Gardiner, Fran and Jerry Jaeger of Mountainville, Robert Jaeger of Mobile, Ala., and Ruth Jaeger; by his nephews and nieces Richard, Christopher Zillig and Vickie Figueroa and grand nephew Richard; also by many cousins.
Funeral services and burial will take place in St. Columba Cemetery in Chester at the convenience of the family.
